The rarest of all of the Genesis releases. The story about this LP is so often told that I
am not going to bother to repeat it here.
This year marks the 51sth anniversary of the release of this seminal LP.
One of the top 200 rarest UK releases and much sought after by collectors.
- Matrix / Runout (Runout stamp side B): ARL-8840.P-1B
- Stampers. Side 1. 1 at 9 o'clock B at 3 o'clock.
Decca used a sequence of letters for their stampers.
This sequence is B U C K I N G H A M. So there is no doubt that this is earliest pressing that you can get with 1B 1B stampers.
Vinyl audio: Great sound reproduction. A very clean example.
I counted just a couple of statics and a couple of light tics, otherwise plays as EX.
No skips No repeats.
Labels: EX+ No spindle wear - see photos. Use the enlarging feature to see how good they are.
Sleeve: Front only laminated again has a few line creases on the front and what looks like a scuff to the rear so VG+
Fully legible spine. All edges are strong and true with only minimal wear
at the corners. See close up photos for greater detail. Mono/stereo "peep hole" to top right rear.
Lyric sheet. Rarer dark red sheet. EX+.
No tears No writing No creases.
Inner sleeve: Original red poly lined Decca inner. EX. No tears no splits.

Grading is as follows based on collector magazine UK
MINT: Virtually unplayed. The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover is pristine.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
V.G PLUS: The record will still be nice and shiny, but may have a few light marks, and will play well. Slight wear and tear on the cover.
V.G: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, etc.
FAIR: Fair. It is noticeable that the record has been played so much that the sound quality has deteriorated very noticeably. The cover and contents are showing signs of folding, scuffing of edges etc.
Further information. All records are separated from the covers and sent in a brand new polythene sleeve and packed in heavy duty cardboard.
