Another from my personal collection of over 50,00 Uk albums that I have collected over a period of 45 years or more!.WOW! What a great sounding copy! This is one of the earliest original 1st UK pressing of Foxtrot by Genesis released in 1972 on the Famous Charisma labels in the UK. Earliest possible -1U Matrix endings on both sides with "PORKY" and PECKO" Hand etched (Only 1st UK Pressings) B&C credits only 1st Press. Visually the vinyl looks superb with minimal play only, with just light marks/ paper removal scuffs but no deep scratches or marks that would cause any constant clicks or pops!. No needle scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops, however I heard just two isolated static type clicks were noted only on both sides. Please listen to the recording in the player below. I would grade the audio at Least excellent plus to Very Near Mint for the most part in my opinion. I heard just two or three isolated static ticks or pops on both sides only. Importantly no distortion or signs that this record has been overplayed at all. Please note: This is very rare to find lioke this , for any who know there are many very quiet places on this album and top sounding/vibrant copies are very hard to find.. No real nasty crackle even in quieter places. Very very rare to find like this after 48 years!
This is complete with the original 1st E.J.Day & co printed, un-laminated Textured gate-fold cover The earliest with red text at the spine is also in excellent Plus condition.
The original Red Charisma Advertising serpier record sleeve is also in superbe condition.

Your browser does not support the audio element.Foxtrot is the fourth studio album by the English progressive rock band Genesis, released in October 1972 on Charisma Records. It features their longest recorded song; the 23-minute epic "Supper's Ready".
The album was recorded following the tour in support of their previous album, Nursery Cryme (1971), which saw them gain popularity, including a well-received slot at the Lincoln Great Western Festival. .
The album was written over the summer of 1972 and combined songs that had already been performed live with new material worked out in jam sessions.
Recording began in August with John Anthony, but sessions were prone to tension and disagreements. After a short Italian tour, sessions resumed with Dave Hitchcock taking over production duties.
The cover was the final Genesis work to be designed by Paul Whitehead, featuring a fox wearing a red dress.
Frontman Peter Gabriel wore the dress and a fox's head on stage for the following tour, which gathered press attention and greatly improved the group's profile.
By the end of 1971, Genesis consisted of frontman and singer Peter Gabriel, keyboardist Tony Banks, bassist and guitarist Mike Rutherford, guitarist Steve Hackett and drummer Phil Collins.
They had played around 400 gigs in the UK, but had yet to achieve commercial success. However, they had begun to become popular abroad; their 1970 album Trespass had reached No.?1 in Belgium, while 1971's Nursery Cryme had reached No.?4 in Italy.
The Italian leg of the tour in April saw Genesis play to large and enthusiastic crowds, which gave the band new ideas about what audiences could be expected from a successful touring band..
The album's cover was the last of three Genesis releases designed by Paul Whitehead, following Trespass and Nursery Cryme.
He was a former art director for the London-based magazine Time Out and gained inspiration from the lyrics to "Supper's Ready" which included references to the apocalypse.
Whitehead wanted to present the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in an original way but it turned into something "a little more whimsical", with two horse riders being a monkey and an alien.
The cover for Nursery Cryme had depicted croquet which represented the English upper class which Whitehead repeated on Foxtrot with the depiction of fox hunting. The croquet scene is also repeated, placed in the background which has the Victorian manor now replaced with a hole in the ground. Track listing.

The Vinyl
On visual inspection this looks superb, this has been played but not over played in my opinion. This is the earliest and original thick and heavier type of vinyl only found like this on the earliest pressings. Any marks that could possibly be seen angled to the light would be sleeve removal type/paper scuffs/scratches only, at least nothing deep or feelable that would cause any major loud constant clicks or pops. The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warping. Importantly, there are no visual marks that would cause any loud nasty constant clicks/ticks or pops during the play of this vinyl.
The Audio Quality
I have play tested the vinyl two times on two different turntables/systems at very loud volume prior to this listing. Once for you to hear the complete album. (Can be heard in the player above)
The moment that the needle hits the playing surface it is obvious to me that this has not been overplayed. WOW absolutely stunning audio! Crystal clear and vibrant stunning top audio throughout the play of this vinyl. It is noted that I heard just two or three static ticks on both sides only to mention, any other minor interferance may be heard in isolated places only but nothing that detracted from the overall truly exceptional sound too much in my personal opinion. I would grade the audio at least excellent plus to very Near Mint for the most part in my opinion! Very Very Vibrant Audio Archive! A superbe playable copy!
Please note! Allowances must be made for these early pressings witth very quiet places during the play of the vinyl. They are notorious for static ticks/pops/crackle in some or quieter places. I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for very light isolated static type crackle/ticks/pops that might be noticed in quieter places, but not consistent through out the audio. Debrit was noted on the playing surface after play. A constant clean before each play is recommended because this vinyl has been stored in a case laying dormant for over 40 years. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static ticks/ crackle. constant cleaning before each play will reduce this and enhance the audio quality.
The Labels
These are the original 1st UK issue Famous Charisma labels. Large Mad Hatter (Only 1st Press) "Manufactured and Distributed by B&C" featured on both sides (Only 1st Press) Darker pink than later press (Only 1st UK press) Bare minimal spider traces can be seen angled to the light only, this has obviously barely been played, certainly not overplayed in my opinion. There is little if no spindle wear the hole is perfectly round.
The Record Sleeve
This is the original Red Famous Charisma adverting serpier record sleeve. This is straight and very clean with light creasing only. The bottom edge is becoming fraging and now is always stored separately from the vinyl. The vinyl is now always stored separately from the sleeve and cover. This is how I have always stored my records.
The Cover
This is the original 1st UK issue E.J.Day & co printed Textured un-laminated gate-fold cover. This has the red text at the spine (only 1st UK Press) No creases to report, or rubbing. All text at the spine is readable and the spine is square and free from crushing. It is noted that the vinyl is now always stored separately from the cover. Rich and very vibrant colours. I would grade this cover at Near Mint in my opinion.
