Description
Original UK tri-colour steamboat Reprise label, stereo issue with the mono sleeve and the earliest A-3G/B-3G matrices and K-2 G-2 stampers of the first presses!
Music in a Doll's House was Family's first album recorded at Olympic Studios, London and produced by Dave Mason of Traffic (who wrote 'Never Like This'). It was released in July 1968 in both mono & stereo, but pressing problems led to the mono issue being withdrawn soon after release and the remaining mono covers were issued with stereo pressings instead. It charted at number 35 in the UK thanks to strong support from John Peel and launched the band in the UK. The album's highly original sound was characterised by Roger Chapman's vocals, rooted in R&B combined with several unusual instruments for a rock band, courtesy of the multi-instrumentalists Ric Grech and Jim King, arranged by Mike Batt, with Saxophone played by Tubby Hayes!
Overall a really clean, loud & clear listen.
The matrix nos. are; RSLP-6312, A-3G stamper K-2, B-3G stamper G-2. This is one of the very early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1968 UK stereo issue of this album!
