Very Rare early pressing of debut album "Tons of Sobs" by blues-rock band FREE.
1969 Island Records ILPS9089 pink labels with white outlined 'i' logo.
Matrix No. Side One: ILPS+9089+A2 Matrix No. Side Two: ILPS+9089+B2
This is a really superb example of this classic and highly collectible album. The cover of the record is in great shape without any writing, tears, creases or seam splits. The colours are still bright and vibrant and show no signs of fading and all of the text can clearly be read along the spine (see photos). There is no ringwear evident and only light signs of edgewear. The sleeve is conservatively graded as Excellent.
The textured pink labels feature the classic white 'i' Island logo. Both labels are clean without any writing or splits and very few noticable spindle marks.
The vinyl itself retains its lustre and sheen with all but a few small surface marks. If I were to visually grade this record I would describe it as Near Mint. The sound of the record remains rich and full of depth and definitely does justice to the amazing songs on the album. There is some audible surface noise at the start of the record and in between tracks but it does not in any way detract from the quality of the music during the songs. I believe that this is an unavoidable result of the way the record was originally pressed. for this reason I will grade the vinyl as Excellent.
