“CHUNGA’S REVENGE”
(LA REVANCHA DE CHUNGA)
MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Reprise Records very first STEREO press released by Reprise Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1975 by Asociación Fonográfica Nacional “ASFONA”, M.R. (ASFONA Records), licensed from Warner Bros. Records U.S.A. Recording, catalog number MS 2030, with hand etched matrix numbers MS-2030-A EB-C in Side 1 and MS-2030-B EB-C in Side 2, with orange/black W7/Reprise “steamboat” Records labels. It’s interesting to notice that in the deadwax of both sides it’s written the exact day of pressing, “19-III-75” (March 19th of 1975). Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!
“Chunga’s Revenge” was originally released in USA in October 1970 and it seems we had to wait a long time to see this great album released here in Chile, because it was only released in 1975 here, yes, 1975. In Chile this album was released as part of the ASFONA Records collection called “SERIE ESPECIAL DE LUJO” (Deluxe Special Serie) an we got an UNIQUE flipback cover, made of 2 single pieces of thin cardboard with front cover pasted on the flips of back cover. Front cover keeps the original artwork with all text written in English only, with the only differences that you can see the ASFONA Records logo at the top right corner and the album title has WHITE LETTERING in Chilean press. Back cover also keeps the same original design with all the text written in English only. The only difference with original US issue is the logo “EL DISCO IS CULTURA” (The Record Is Culture) at top left corner, the text “SERIE ESPECIAL DE LUJO” below the tracklist and at the bottom left corner is written “Editado Y Distribuido por “ASFONA” M.R. Santiago De Chile – Fono 83877”, but it’s interesting to read “Made In USA (P) 1970” above. It’s also interesting to see that in back cover the sides are identified as “Side One” and “Side Two” but in labels they are “A” and “B”. In labels, the album title is written in Spanish, translated to English, and the tracklist is written in English only, with full credits for songwriters and for Frank Zappa as producer, with additional information about licenses and publishers. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE PRESS of this classic rock album by Frank Zappa, A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Frank Zappa!!! Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from this side of the world!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in nice VG- or VG condition, clean and complete, fully readable, but with severe wear in the edges and corners, more evident in the mouth edge, with many creases, some blemishes, ring marks, some rips, small tears and partial seam splits at top and left edges. The record is in nice VG or VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many scuffs, light hairlines and soft scratches, which don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in great EX+ or even NM- condition, clean and clear, with only some spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong VG or VG+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with soft constant crackles and regular light clicks here and there, with some hiss, more evident in the quiet parts of songs and in the silent parts between tracks, which of course don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record, sure not for Minty minds or audiophiles, who especially look for perfect covers, but sure a record with still a nice glossy look, almost immaculate labels and with still a very decent and respectable sound quality after about 46 years, which won't disappoint anyone and will satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press!!! WOW!!! And keep in mind the UNIQUE Spanish-written album title and the date of pressing written in the deadwax!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!! _________________________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
