Description

This record really needs no introduction but I must say a few things regardless... Long storied as the most desirable West Coast psych piece Fraction Moon Blood certainly lives up to it's reputation. With only 200 copies pressed, this Hard Rock, Psych masterpiece was recorded and released by the Los Angeles Christian label Angelus Records and is one of the best Christian Psych records I have ever heard. If you like the counterpoint between Christian content and heavy hard rock this is the record for you. Some people compare the sound to The Doors and this is true on a couple of tracks for sure. It also is a lot heavier in parts that early Doors material with long tracks and very up front guitar work. I located this copy just a few short blocks from where it was recorded in Los Angeles so it carries that original vibe to say the least. The only copy I have ever had previously was totally destroyed. It just does not pop up anymore in L.A. and seldom does it pop up in-tact as this copy is. It is a rare record to find with the cover in tact. The red cellophane jacket design is a masterpiece of vintage die-cut album design but is usually ripped, damaged and most commonly the outer edge of the front fold is torn away. Not the case with this copy, while is shows some general mild shelf wear it is completely in tact. Cover Condition: Solid vg++ or Excellent. Cover shows very, very slight corner wear. In fact corners are quite crisp. Back of jacket is bright and white. Red Cellophane is in tact and very lightly scuffed with faint, faint hairlines only noticed under a bright lamp. Bottom seam has a tiny one inch center seam split that holds clean and tight. Slight ringwear on upper front of jacket. Tiny price sticker residue on front right. No writing, no mold, no staining, no cut out marks, no corner bends. Record Condition: Solid vg++. No deep marks or nicks at all. I play graded the LP start to finish and carefully cleaned it on a VPI machine. A very few, very faint surface scuffs and very faint hairline marks when viewed under a stong halogen lamp. Plays through excellent with only a bit of surface noise in the occasional quiet passage. This is noticeable in the intro to the track Sons Come to Birth but plays out clean after a few seconds of the intro. This is not a tic or pop. This is a slight surface noise at the most, to be expected with the grade but I feel the need to mention it. I don’t want to sell it now that I have it in my hands but I need to do it. The reason why I like this copy is it just caries that original, very excellent " vibe ". It feels good. It sounds good. It is a nice copy to have of this very tough to find item.
