Great Elvis Rarities!

"Burning Love Records"

Item:  "Elvis Presley SPD-22" RARE Double Special Products EP from 1956

Catalog Number:  SPD-22

Condition Of Item:     Cover VG/Sides 1&4 VG+/Sides 2&3 VG

Year of Issue:   1956

Today's Auctions:  Three incredibly rare pieces today, SPD-22 and two extremely rare dealer preview records from 1956, three of the rarest peices in the Elvis catalog.  All are valued in the four figure arena, so be sure and check these babies out!

A Closer Look:  Starting off today is SPD-22, one of the rarest Elvis records in the world today.  In the early efforts to promote their new star, RCA quickly created two mail order Elvis Presley record players to meet the demand of fans.  If you ordered the lesser machine, you would recieve SPD-22 as a bonus, if you got the deluxe model RCA would send along SPD-23.  This is the 22 and it in nice shape.  The cover still has a nice look, a bit of wear in places, but the cover is completely intact and spine is completely readable and in nice shape.  The inside of the gatefold is also in find condition, again just a bit of light wear on front and back cover hold this one back.   The two records are both present as well, sides 1&4 is the first record and it is in very nice shape, one side of the record has M- gloss, the other side is slightly less, fine shine with a couple isolated paper scuffs in just a few spots.  The labels are both in nice shape, someone wrote their name in the black area but it was with a ball point black pen so the only way you can see it is turn it to the light at an angle.  Sides 2&3 are also in nice condition, vinyl on both sides is VG+, very slight wear.  The label on both sides have remnant of tape, side 3 very light, side 2 slightly more so will call it a VG.  This certainly isn't that perfect item, but is still very collectable and of course when they get this rare condition doesn't quite play the role that it does with the more common items. Both records have stamped matrix numbers and are from the Rockaway, New Jersey plant.  Be sure and check out the pictures on this one.  The mint SPD-22 books at $4000 so this one would be in the $2000 range in this condition.  Best of luck, just a item that rarely is seen.  Starts at $9.99 and there is no reserve!

Rating Guide:

Mint (M): Perfect in every way, looks to have never been played, should have that look just as it did when you pulled the record from the new cover at the time of original purchase.

Mint Minus (M-): A nearly perfect record and cover. This item should show no readily visible signs of wear, covers and sleeves should have no more than nearly invisible rings or other signs of slight wear and vinyl should still be completely glossy and shiney, just the very lightest hint of wear if it is tilted to very bright light.

Very Good Plus (VG+): This record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled carefully by the previous owner. Record surfaces will show some light signs of paper scuffing or light scratches, that don't affect the listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect sound are OK. This disc should still contain much of its original luster and sheen. The covers and picture sleeves should also be in very nice shape, they may have light ring wear or other signs of wear, may have a small cut out hole, indention or stamping present. Also there can be non obvious writing on the paper goods.

Very Good (VG): Many of the defects found in the VG+ record and cover will be present but more pronounced in the VG item. Surface noise will be evident, although the record should play through without skipping or repeating. Groove wear will now be noticable, scuffing and light scratching will be appearent, a scratch now can be felt with a fingernail. Labels will be marred with tape or tape residue, stickers or descret writing. The same will be true for the LP cover or picture sleeve.

Good (G): Good does not mean bad! A record in good condition should be placed on a turntable and it should play through, all though the surface noise will be evident. A cover or picture sleeve will have seam splitting, especially on the bottom seam or spine. Also there will be noticable ring wear caused by the presence of the record. The defects will start to overwhere this item.

Fair (F) or Poor (P): This record will be cracked, badly warped, and will not play through without skipping or repeating. The picture sleeeve or LP cover will show lots and lots of wear, the seams will be split on all three sides barely able to hold the record. This item will appear near valueless, unless of course it is a rarity that may not be seen again.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
