Description
Elvis Presley – “Elvis As Recorded at Madison Square Garden (Radio Station Banded Special Version)”
Label: RCA Records – SPS-33-571-1 / SPS-33-571-2 (derived from LSP-4776)
Format: 2×Vinyl, LP, Stereo, Dynaflex – “Special 2-Record Set For Radio Station Use Only (Banded For Your Convenience)”
Country: USA
Released: 1972
Genre: Rock / Pop / Oldies / Rock ’n’ Roll / Live Album
Style: Classic Rock, Oldies, Live Performance, Soundtrack 💿 DESCRIPTION
Ultra-scarce U.S. 1972 RCA promotional-only “Radio Station Banded Special Version”, prepared exclusively for broadcast following Elvis’s legendary Madison Square Garden performances (June 10–11, 1972).
Unlike the commercial issue (LSP-4776) which was a continuous live recording, this SPS-33-571 set was banded—each track individually separated for convenient cueing on air—and pressed on Dynaflex lightweight vinyl.
Issued in a plain white gatefold-style jacket with two large typewritten cue-sheet stickers on front, detailing the complete program and timing for Parts 1 and 2.
Labels are white RCA promotional style with large RCA block logo, “NOT FOR SALE” and “Radio Station Banded Special Version” text.
Only a few hundred copies were reportedly distributed to U.S. radio stations; never sold commercially. This title is among the hardest Elvis RCA promos to locate complete and clean, and it’s an essential archival pressing for serious Presley or RCA collectors.
