Description
Elvis CR-15 single sided Old Shep promo & mailer envelope; about 7 1/2" wide X 8" high. Vinyl is clean & plays with a little background noise but nothing serious. Label is clean. Envelope has rub-wear on the front and back, with wrinkles mainly on the back and several 'dirty' spots and a type-written address and postage. The inside of the top flap on the envelope has 2 tiny bits of torn paper where the envelope was opened and took a couple pieces of the back paper with the glue-gum (see pics).
This envelope has only the signature and year, to place it with a record, so I would be more interested in evidence FOR its intended vinyl, than evidence that it wasn't for the CR-15. The '56 is the graphic artist's time-sensitive notation, that places its creation in '56 and the postmark puts the mailing at the end of '56. RCA still had to receive the graphic and put it into production with some specific intent in mind before the end of '56.
Because the song selected is a promo for something beyond itself, it could only have been to promote Elvis second album, LPM-1382 and the EPs from that album, which are the only commercially released records with that song (the WOHO was not a commercial release). Since both the LP and the EPs (EPA 993 specifically) were also released at the end of '56, THOSE are the commercial products being promoted by this mailer. Since Old Shep is the ONLY song from that album that was promoted as a NFS WLP, and the envelope is from the same year, there are only TWO prospects for the envelope; one is the CR-15, and the other is the Elvis/Morgan combo which is EPA 992 & EPA 993 (993 is Old Shep). BUT, the Elvis/Morgan package was NOT a commercial release, so that leaves only the the LPM 1382 & EPA 993 as the records being directly promoted by the contents of this envelope. ipso facto: CR-15. The promos were mailed in Dec. to promote the LP & EP records, which were released in Oct. The obvious marketing strategy was to get air-play for the emotion-packed Old Shep, which had just passed from the hands of distributors to the shelves of record stores....just in time for Christmas shoppers!I have a Merchant Account with ebay, so I accept credit-card and bank-card payments via ebay checkout. International buyers should log-on to ebay USA (ebay.com), to bid and pay, as ebay has some sort of glitch with the international-ebay Cc option; it often does not register with the buyer, even though it goes through to me, so international buyers should not keep trying after the first attempt, as they might make more than one payment. Typically, I find the over payments and refund them, but it's best to contact me after trying the Cc option
I offer media-rate shipping with a tracking/confirmation number. I will combine shipping for more than one item, and I accept all forms of payment except for Paypal: ATTENTION: NO PAYPAL-NO EXCEPTIONS! ; I will refund bid price (not shipping) if buyer is dissatisfied. International bidders must contact me before paying to determine the shipping costs for an item, which usually costs about $27 US for registered mail.
Please contact me via email with any further concerns.
