Description
HonestDave is one of East Anglia's biggest collectors and sellers of good quality vinyl from the best era in pop music 1955 - 1971. My credentials can be checked with VIP Fairs if required. I try to sell only discs in the best possible condition, in relation to their age, and I use the respected Record Collector Magazine's Grading System (see the bottom of the page). 95% of my items will be in EXCELLENT condition with very few, usually extremely rare, items no lower than VERY GOOD. I collect myself and therefore my judgement is very strict. See clause 4 below for more detail.
All records will have been cleaned and inspected under a bright light before being at least partially played on a good quality sound system. Please note that vinyl that has been stored unplayed for years is likely to have some minor background noise for the first few plays until remaining ingrained dirt is removed by the needle. You should alway wash old records in soap and fairly warm, but not hot, water, rubbing the soap in steadily just with your fingers in the direction of the grooves, then drain off the excess water and soap and play once or twice whilst still wet!
DETAILS OF THE RECORD(s) OFFERED FOR SALE
Time for another of HonestDave' s "Soul Selections". The next dozen or so discs to be listed will be a mixture of reasonably common items, some harder to find classics and a few that will set your trousers on fire, with a price tag to match! Enjoy!
Edwin Starr - I Want My Baby Back. Tamla Motown TMG 630, 1966
Another collectable early Motown track, when the company sleeves were orange. A sure sign of a winner! Edwin Starr's "I Want My Baby Back" appears to have been written by a pretty powerful bunch - Norman Whitfield, Eddy Grant and Eddie Kendricks and is backed with "Gonna Keep On Trying ('Til I Win Your Love) by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong. Wow!. A MINT copy is listed at £25.00 and this one is pretty good!

ALL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE FOLLOWING TERMS OF SALE - everything you need to know about dealing with HonestDave is here!
1) EBAY IS ONLY A HOBBY! I AM EXTREMELY BUSY THROUGHOUT THE WORKING WEEK AND SO I AM ONLY ABLE TO POST ON MONDAYS. If you want the item on your doormat the next day please do NOT bid for my records. If your payment misses the post deadline of midday Monday, you will have to wait another week for delivery - you have been warned! I leave feedback when I can, usually at weekends, but it may take a while before you see it.
2) Payment is required no later than 10 days after the of the auction. If you require more time for other bids, or are going to be away, please let me know. I don't start silly disputes without trying to find an amicable solution first.
3) Allow 10 days (15 days for Europe and 30 days if you are further overseas) before asking where your item is. All items are sent by First Class UK Post or Air Mail if overseas. If you want the slower, cheaper surface mail you must say so when winning. Be warned - it takes a long time to arrive!
4) All my items are 100% fully guaranteed. If an item is not as described, or is in any way unsatisfactory, just send an email and you will be contacted. In all cases where you are unhappy, you WILL BE REFUNDED in full but it would be appreciated if you would leave positive feedback first - that way everyone, including myself, is treated fairly. There is no need for Neutral or Negative feedback to be left at all - just talk to me.
PLEASE DO NOT RETURN ANY ITEM WITHOUT CONTACTING ME FIRST - IT MAY NOT BE WORTH THE POSTAGE COSTS!
5) Any buyer that does leave Neutral or Negative feedback without just cause will be immediately blocked from all further auctions!
6) I have been selling on Ebay without major problems for almost four years and for thirty years prior to that as a dealer at specialist record fairs. I am known to be very fair and I do not like upset customers. My gradings of records are therefore very strict and I have positive feedback now standing at over 1760 (with repeat feedback over 2400 in total). Only 1 negative has ever been received, and this came from a man who obviously did not read the selling instructions and threw a hissy fit over nothing at all. Unlike him, if you can read plain English, you will see that you will be well looked after if you co-operate with me.
7) If you have a wants list you are welcome to send it by email to info@trainseurope.co.uk with as much detail as you can, plus the maximum amount you are prepared to pay. Add a telephone number so I can call you if I find the record at a fair.
8) SIMPLE AND FAIR POSTAGE PRICES. I don't make a profit by ripping off customers with exorbitant postal costs. I DO charge a fair price for safe and strong packaging (40p per normal, small order, and a maximum of 80p for larger orders). All prices are correct to the recent price rise by the Royal Mail on April 6th, 2009 and are valid until further notice. If you want insurance this will charged at the net extra cost.
UK CUSTOMERS: you pay just £1.30 for up to three 45's, or £1.70 for 4 to 7 singles. One album is now £2.55 since the price rise in April 2009, two costs £3.05 and three is £3.65. These prices include the small order professional packaging.
EUROPEAN CUSTOMERS: you pay £1.75 for the first single, £2.00 for 2 or 3, £2.50 for 4, £2.80 for 5 and £2.95 for 6; albums start at £3.40 for the first one, then £4.70 for 2 and £5.80 for 3. These prices include the small order professional packaging.
CUSTOMERS IN THE REST OF THE WORLD: your prices are £2.35 for the first single, £2.85 for 2 or 3, £3.80 for 4, £4.30 for 5 and £4.75 for 6; albums start at £5.50 for 1, then £8.50 for 2 and £11.50 for 3. These prices include the small order professional packaging.

THE RECORD COLLECTOR QUALITY GRADES:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. I will not use this grade unless I can personally prove it has never been played or is still sealed.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. The majority of my sales are at this grade.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. I will very occasionally sell a record at this grade. It will be clearly marked as such.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. If the record is very rare, and worthy of sale, I will very occasionally describe a record COVER as Good but only if I do not have a replacement. I DO NOT SELL VINYL AT THIS LOW A GRADE.
FAIR, POOR or BAD: THESE RECORDS HAVE ALREADY BEEN BINNED!
FRONT COVER OF EP/ALBUM: Not applicable; EXCELLENT; VERY GOOD; GOOD
REAR COVER OF EP/ALBUM: Not applicable; EXCELLENT; VERY GOOD; GOOD
VINYL: EXCELLENT; VERY GOOD; GOOD
45/EP SUPPLIED IN: Not applicable; ORIGINAL COMPANY SLEEVE/PICTURE SLEEVE; REPLICA COMPANY SLEEVE; PLAIN PAPER SLEEVE
ADDITIONAL NOTES: A little damage to the A side label but barely visible and with no text loss. You should find the disc plays perfectly adequately with little, if any background noise; no pops, skips, or jumps.
All LP's and EP's come with original covers of course. 5% of the 45rpm records sold have white or black sleeves because either the company sleeve was never issued or is impossible to find.
