Description

Collectors, here is Edison Diamond Disc record #52511, circa early 1929.  Walter van Brunt, using the pseudonym "Walter Scanlan", sings "Killarney, My Home O'er the Sea", and a medley of Irish songs, both with orchestra.  Fine singing with a mild Irish accent, great version of "My Wild Irish Rose" in the medley, very enjoyable.   As far as I can tell, neither song was issued as a Blue Amberol cylinder. The record plays well with fairly limited surface noise.  There are some edge chips, and the labels are firmly attached to the record.  The labels might be reproductions, I am not sure.
The highest Diamond Disc number issued was 52651, so this record came out a few months before the end of production!   The number of copies made of each record was low, and existing copies either had to be bought in 1929 or saved by jobbers and dealers.  It's unknown how many are still around 90+ years later, but surely the answer is "not many".  If this is what you like, do not pass it up, reasonable buy it now price given what I have here, go for it!
Shipping to USA addresses only.  $4.75 media mail postage and handling, record will be carefully packed and shipped in a new box.  Please pay within 24 hours of purchase and I will leave you positive feedback when I ship the record, your positive feedback much appreciated!!  See my other listings for other early 78s, and thanks for looking!!
