IL GATTO A NOVE CODE (aka THE CAT O' NINE TAILS) / NINNA NANNA IN BLU ... 7-inch, 45rpm OST single. Music composed and directed by ENNIO MORRICONE. Original Italian 1st pressing on the GENERAL MUSIC label (ZGE 50167), from 1971. Distressing and beautiful mood music from the cult horror film / art house masterpiece, directed by Dario Argento. Maybe the most visceral Morricone item on 7-inch format ;) Experimental psychedelia with that sinister IL Gruppo Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza / Feed-back Library sound. Disturbing funk on IL GATTO A NOVE CODE featuring killer broken beats / droning, plucked piano strings / obsessive jazz bassline / freaky screams and the avantgarde muted trumpet of the maestro. Great for DJs with booming production. Totally destroys his Eat It / 4 Mosche Di Velluto aka 4 Flies On Grey Velvet single et al. The NINNA NANNA IN BLU theme is much more cinematic and evocative. Bewitching, hippie-esque orchestrations with a ghostly undercurrent and spellbinding scat vocals by Edda Dell'Orso. The looped middle section with cello and piano, is exquisite. Bizarre sleeve artwork too. Rare OST 45!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG hip hop  argento

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition overall with some hairlines / faint scuffs and some faded, old pressing residue marks (mostly all to the "Ninna Nanna..." side). Loud production sound. Light surface noises. A few soft pops / soft ticks in places (as you can hear on our soundclip). The soft card picture sleeve is in VG++ condition overall regardless of any general creasing from storage / light corner and edge wear. Mini tear to the open side edge of back sleeve only. Rare OST 45!!!
