ELECTRIC HOLYLAND - ARK / EARTHEN VESSEL / NEW FOLK ETC - LIMITED EDITION OF 500 HAND NUMBERED COPIES
LP MINT, NEW AND UNPLAYED
This is an amazing compilation of extremely rare tracks. The “theme” that unites all of these songs—besides the fact that they’re all from hard to find Jesus rock LPs—is the presence of killer fuzzed out, hard-rocking guitar. Some may remember the Holy Fuzz comp from a decade ago; Electric Holyland can be seen as its companion album, but this is also a much nicer production. The cuts were recorded as early as 1969 through the mid-’70s, mainly on private/micro labels. Here’s the track listing:

It would be hard to over-emphasize the obscurity of some of the records from which these selections come. Only a handful of copies have ever been unearthed of some of those LPs. This is an authorized release that has been beautifully and lovingly done, and it features eye-popping cover art that harkens back to the old ’60s Fillmore posters. Appropriately, this was privately released in the U.S. on Lysergic Sound Distributors in 2009. Only 500 pressed and hand numbered in silver on back of cover
