Label Condition: STILL SEALED. This one is the U.S.A. edition, which means the rare Gold Label.
Sleeve Condition: Still sealed! Mint-. The original factory sealing is 98 percent intact! No major dents, just a small crease from spine to just below J.Densmores arm, but this is not very noticable.
Catalog number : EKL-4024, mono.
Country of manufacture: U.S.A.
Rarity: This one pressed in U.S.A. (Gold Label) with white banner above the band that reads 'EKL 4024' (see scan). The U.K. version had a blue banner above the band. Search e-bay for this item and see 4859578878 it is a U.K. pressing. There were only 500 of these pressed for American AM radio stations, this one is still sealed which makes it quite possibly the rarest Doors LP in existance. Stereo mixes vs. Mono mixes Stereo albums give greater depth and presence whereas mono albums usually are more dynamic, louder and present the with greater clarity. Also, typically, the band usually helped the engineers do the mono mix, which was, in fact the primary mix until ’67-’68. So in general, this is the mix that had the bands ‘thumbs up’ this is the one they wanted you to hear. The stereo mix was usually done solely with engineers, and studio personnel, and was sort of approved by the band after the mixing was complete. As a general guide to rarity, mono was more common from ‘61–‘66; Around ‘67–‘68 the balance was roughly equal, then from late ‘68-‘69 the balance swung more to stereo
