Description
Dib Cochran and The Earwigs - Oh Baby / Universal Love
(Bell Records BLL 1121) This is a copy of one of the rarest Marc Bolan / Trex singles -the legendary Dib Cochran single from August 1970.
Dib Cochran & The Earwigs was a pseudonym for a one-off studio band comprising Marc Bolan on guitar, John Cambridge on drums, Tony Visconti on bass and Rick Wakeman on keyboards with vocals by Tony Visconti and Marc Bolan - and as has long been rumoured - David Bowie on sax (although this has been discounted by Tony Visconti). This single came and went completely unnoticed in 1970 and has never been re-issued save for a few appearences on compilations over the years.
Most copies have Factory Sample stickers on them, this is a very rare copy without the stickers meaning it was a genuine copy sold in the shops. It is housed in a Bell Records generic die-cut paper sleeve.
The vinyl is in very good condition - The b-side has a few light surface marks but plays okay, some audio hiss. The a-side plays okay except there is a small mark at the edge which causes an audible click/jump at the start. The push-out centre is firmly intact, the labels are in excellent condition with no writing or marks apart from a couple of spindle marks. The paper sleeve has minor wear.
In mint condition the Record Collector guide rates this at £500. I am starting this at a lower price as it is not mint but I'm asking minimum £300 as it is not perfect but still mega rare.
Shipping costs are higher than normal to include tracked/insured postage. If you have any questions please ask.
