A true first pressing copy with the label havng no EMI box logo, 'Sold in U.K...' over four lines, and A.1G & B.1G stamps to dead wax areas. Flip side of outer sleeve states '...Ernest J. Day & Co. ltd...' Included is the original plain inner sleeve with the words 'patents applied for' to lower corner, and shows and inked inscription stating where the record was first purchased (EMI Record Shop, Oxford St, London)

Vinyl:

   Bright, clean disc that appears to have been played and handled with care and a light touch.  A few light surface marks (nothing feelable or sounding), yet plays very well indeed.     

   Side 1: VG+ Bright, clean surface, very light background crackle in some of the quieter places - a very small number of light clicks or mild 'pops' here and there. Plays very well indeed overall, but a good clean is recommended.

Labels:

   Side 1: VG+ Bright and clear - a previous owner paper label stating name and address - it may come off by simply moistening it, but I think I would rather lave that to the next owner. Very light spindle trails centered no more than 15mm around hole in middle - obviously always been placed on the platter with care and light handedness

Outer sleeve: VG+/EX- Bright and glossy with light signs of wear to the tips of spine ends and corners; a light laminate crease to lower front, a few light similar creases towards spine (no more than 15mm); very modest ring-wear to flip side - not apparent on front side; neat opening edge with very light signs of opening or edge buckling.

Overall a very decent copy of a scarce first issue pressing.


Over the next few months I will be auctioning off my late father's record collection, which, among other genres, consist mostly of classical music. All records are from quality labels, such as Decca, HMV, Columbia, Deutch Grammophone, etc. and are mostly in excellent condition.  

I do not clean or play the records, though I do use a truth-revealing bright light to reveal any likely-looking audible flaws. If any are found, a description is provided after a test-play of the relevant side. I will also test-play records on request if required. If on visual inspection no likely-looking audible flaws are found, the side generally very clear, glossy and at least little used in appearance, I will grade that side as EX or NM.  However, with such grades, please bear in mind there may still be a few noticeable isolated 'ticks' or 'pops' here and there, and/or occasional mild surface noise.  Although these records appear  clean, I advise the purchaser to give their purchases a good clean. For test-playing, a Pioneer PL-L1000 turntable fitted with a Denon DL-160 cartridge is used.

Packaging: records wrapped and sent within thick, sturdy double-walled card arranged at cross-grain to one another for maximum rigidity - I will never use those flimsy mailers made out of thin card. Corners of package will also be rigid and well clear of corners of outer sleeve.
