This release has stamped matrix numbers in the dead wax. All other versions with this cover are counterfeits (with etched matrix numbers).This US release is the first release on LP of The Man Who Sold the World. It was only released in two countries - US and Japan (SFX-7345) - with this original cover. The building in the background is the Cane Hill Hospital where David Bowie's half-brother Terry was a patient.
The album was released in a further three countries on the Mercury label - Germany (David Bowie - The Man Who Sold The World) in a large circular fold-out cover and the United Kingdom and Australia with a picture of David reclining in a dress. This latter cover is the one used on contemporary releases.
The US Mercury album was counterfeited in the early 1970s after Bowie became popular. It was possible for a potential buyer to choose between the official RCA reissue (in yet another cover, see David Bowie - The Man Who Sold The World) and the widely distributed counterfeit.
The following visual indicators can be used to confirm an original US Mercury LP:
• The matrices in the runout (the space between the label and the grooves) are machine stamped (the counterfeits are hand etched).
• The space between the final lyric line of The Supermen and the cartoon bubble "Oh By Jingo" on the back cover is approximately the height of a line of text, while on the counterfeits the space is notably wider.

Mega Hard To Find In This Original 1970 US Vintage Vinyl Edition With The Original (Mercury Records) Cover !!!
Vinyl Is In Very Good To (Mostly) Very Good Plus Condition. (there is some age related wear - there are some surface scratches (nothing deep) - there is some minor scuffing/rubbing marks, probably from decades spent living in a cheap paper inner sleeve)
Cover Is In Very Good Plus To (Mostly) Very Good Plus Plus Condition. (the cover - still has the original shrink wrap attached, by way of something known as "A Tape Job" - this was a strange practice invented in the late 1960's by a fanatical record collector on the east coast, and taken up by his equally peculiar record collector buddies - it involves using large amounts of scotch tape (it never yellow's, much like twinkies, they never go bad) holding the shrink wrap in place to the record cover - gatefold album's were extremely involved and required a whole pile of scotch tape. So, that was always a project unto itself, you really had to set aside significant blocks of time to complete the task. Anyway, technically, the front and back cover are in great condition with the original shrink wrap . . . . . . held there, with scotch tape.)

As a result, this sometimes gets in the way of my e-baying.
So, if my turn around time takes a lot longer then most sellers,
(I have a 30 day shipping window) I really do apologize in advance.
I know it is a (potentially) long delivery window,
and you may want to consider this before bidding.
Also, I always ship items in proper shipping packaging, with padding
or packing peanuts or cardboard bracing as needed. I use whatever is
required in order to try and get it safely through the worldwide mail
systems. As a result, there is a small (cost) fee for the packaging materials
that I get from Box City, in order to safely ship the items.
Also, please understand this in advance, I use the e-bay calculator to
figure out postage. Sometimes, it is wrong, and presents a cost that is
higher then the actual cost at the post office. If and when this is the case,
I always refund the difference.
Please Note: Overseas Packages that go through the Customs system,
can take up to 4 to 6 weeks to Process and Deliver, This IS Normal.
For Russia and the Middle East, this can take even longer and is
completely out of my control, so please be patient.
