  "Zero" first of all: The following text is a lill longer. We feel this is necessary to "introduce an Introducing".
Please read why:

"First" first of all, we were thinking a lot whether or not to list an Introducing, one of the most counterfeited Beatles albums - infinite times, and in a myriad of "versions". Why? Cos it's a lot of work to even give a minimum of details, just the basic facts a buyer needs to know in order to be "sure" to not falling for a counterfeit hook, line, and sinker.

"Second" first of all: Up for auction here is a regular, legal, original release of VeeJay's most successful publication - the first ever album title of the Fabs in the United States, a Mono Version 2 of Introducing The Beatles, released on VeeJay's Black Block Logo label. Considering its American heritage and related midly known vinyl quality, it comes in an overall very good thru excellent condition, which is almost a "Jackpot" when looking for this 1964 title. Moreover, record shows a straight, clear mono sound without any complaint of actual concern.
This copy's manufacturer ID is "MR", indicating Monarch pressing plants in California.

So much about this copy.

Having said that, let's tackle some facts that help to tell an original from a fake. Please be aware that bullets listed below represent a basic guide. There's actually certain "combination of characteristics" that may not work, however, going into all details may easily go beyond the scope of an eBay listing. Also, we focus exclusively at the release's mono version.

Disc Characteristics

1. One of the main issues is the precense of a circled ID stamp in the trail-off (run out) of the record. It serves to determine the respective American pressing plant.
   The following IDs are valid:
   
   
   • APR = American Record Pressing Co., Michigan
   • MR   = Monarch Record Mfg. Co., California
   • ARC = Allentown Record Co. Inc., Pennsylvania
   • SP   = Southern Plastics, Inc., Tennessee
   • COL = Columbia Record, Connecticut
   • W     = H.V. Waddell Co., California
   
   If there's no ID at all, we may stop right here already, for it's a counterfeit copy with a chance of 99.9 percent.
   
2. Label print has to be in bright, sharp Silver. On black labels, the print may "tend to more" White.
   
3. The wording "THE BEATLES" as well as "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES" on both labels has to be above the spindle hole. Every copy that has the band name and / OR the title below the spindle hole is clearly a counterfeit.
   
4. The rainbow colorband on the labels' perimeter has to be gloss, or at least semi-gloss. Moreover, originals show a smooth, gradual color-transition, comparable to those of a classic Mid-60s Capitol rainbow label. The colorband is of high resolution.
   
5. As a rule of thumb, there's "basically" 4 (four) types of legitimate labels:
   
   
   • Oval Logo
   • Brackets Logo
   • Small Brackets Logo
   • Block Logo

6. Vinyl trail-off (run out) usually measures from 7/8" to 1" wide. Anything greater indicates a counterfeit.

Cover Characteristics

1. All "legitimate"" covers are made using varying shades of gray or tan cardboard.
   
2. Covers have a 1/4" overlap of cardboard at the top and bottom of the inside.
   
3. Color shades may vary on originals, however, the printing of the photo and text is always very sharp and clear. Any printing of equivocal, poor quality, such as a clear degree of paleness or somewhat blurry photos or text, clearly indicates a counterfeit.
   
4. The Photo of the Mono Version has to show Paul's hands completely, clasped over his left knee. There has to be some space below his hands, showing a part of his leg.
   Covers where Paul's hands are somewhat "cut" (or just thumbs are visible), are clearly counterfeits.
   
5. On the right of the cover's front, a shadow of George's body has to be visible. Moreover, this shadow has to have a natural look, as encountered on any older photo of minor (Mid-60s) quality.
   
6. IF the cover's back side shows a track listing (there's also a blank back cover version and one that shows numerous colored advertisments of other VeeJay publications), it is in two columns, devided and delimiting to the right and left by a Black line.

A last word on "provenience": You may often run into offers, for instance on eBay, where seller assures that she or he her/himself bought an Introducing in person at a local record store in, let's say, Summer 1964, still offering a counterfeit - she or he is not necessariy a liar! With Beatlemania upcoming out of the blue in America, a small company like VeeJay was unable to satisfy the needs of an audience that counted in millions, and it really happened that "private persons" (fakers) delivered copies to official record stores. Store owners didn't care, they were happy to have this record in stock (and hence making good profit).

The term "Version 2" applies to both the mono and stereo release. It indicates that last song on Side A is Ask Me Why, first one on B-Side Please Please Me ("Version 1" has Love Me Do / P.S. I Love You). In the early times (End 1963 / Beginning of 1964), American Capitol (owned by E.M.I.!) arrogantly attempted to ignore the Fabs (and it was them who later on "invented" the term "British Invasion"). Successful British bands were perceived of like a "living dead guy". VeeJay, a tiny label from Chicago, IL, took advantage of that and saved limited rights of most of the songs of the Beatles' British publication Please Please Me, with the exception of Love Me Do and P.S. I Love You. Latest with the Beatles' performance at America's most popular Ed Sullivan Show on February 09, 1964 at 8pm, viewed by 73 million Americans on TV,  Capitol realized their capital mistake...
...and started to fight VeeJay in a law suit on rights of Beatles songs.

Finally, we know it's many, many words, and it might be demanding to read this listing. However, we also know it's so important to be able to bid with confidence...

1st Class Packaging

We are Collectors, hence every record is stored (and will be sent) in a sophisticated way. Many experienced collectors were thrilled by our unique, bullet-proof "packing technicque". Original cover, inner sleeve(s), prospective inserts, and/or whatever may come across, are stored separately. The vinyl sits in a neutral antistatic, padded inner sleeve, which is housed in a stable, neutral cardboard cover. Package is protected by one (or more) transparent plastic sleeves. Finally, all items are being wrapped with thick bubble foil and go to a professional record mailer, which is then being properly sealed with water-resistant tape.

For packaging, we use brand-new material & items only. Whatever eBay MIGHT display: INSURED, SIGNED-IN, TRACKED SHIPPING IS FREE. ANY DESTINATION ON THIS PLANET.

Audible checks are performed with a Pro-Ject Audio system connected to a DENON PMA 520-AE amplifier, with a Sennheiser 350 headset.     Remarks   As for the Cover and related issues, please refer to pictures provided right after. Spine is in a 100 percent perfectly readable condition.
Glossy on front and back. Strong cardboard. Seam split, scuffed edges, and ring wear. Back side something yellows.
Both labels are basically clean. No writings. A-Side with marks, label B shows scratches
Vinyl hairlines, and marks. Some scratches on both sides. This record has been played pretty often.

Regarding audio, plays perfectly thru, no jumps, or skips. Straight, clear mono sound, absolutely no complaints of actual concerns.
