Description

An original 1st press of Space Oddity on the UK RCA label. Please note the original recording of this title was actually back in '69 on Philips. Given that Bowie was a relative unknown in '69 these copies are now highly sought after. What you have here is the very 1st pressing on RCA as the company made a huge push to get Bowie into the main stream. Matrix 1E/1E [1st cut]. Note the labels mentions the 'Titanic' publishing credits. This copy actually comes from around the time STARDUST would finally push Bowie into the big-time [Summer '72]. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover with NO mention of 'Mainman' on the rear - these are the 1st issues. There's also the lyric inner sleeve, WE HAVE THE POSTER<<<. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen the lightest use. Under close inspection there are a couple of very slight marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. A really clean player which will give you maximum opportunity to take in these classic tracks to full effect. Bowie was already in top form by '69 as is clear from this collection of songs. He just had to wait for the public to catch up! Very little background observable at all. I'm not sure I've ever heard a better playing copy... Slow-builds and noodling sections - CLEAN A THEY COME! At worst a few minor crackles briefly right at the start of 'Five Years' - that's it! . FINAL UPGRADE.<<<<
Cover (Vg+) Can often end up looking a bit beleaguered - but this example is looking very tidy. Clean front without much of that surface wear that tends to exhibit. The rear is just a shade down on that level with a crease in the top left corner and a sticker removal mark  to the left of Bowie's knee. Slight edge war in a couple of spots. Firm openings. The spine is 90% intact with slight light fade. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Very nice indeed!
Inner (Ex) Really nice condition with little ageing. No splits.
Poster (Ex+) Practically perfect.
