2E/3T stamped in the dead wax with Rasputin etched on side 2, please see the photo with the release information
Great very early 1971 copy of Hunky Dory as close to the master tapes as possible
Please don't confuse this copy with the many others for sale, it has loads of life left in it and has little wear and tare for a record of this age AND it plays and sounds amazing due to the heavy pressed vinyl only used in the very early releases.
It may sound anal, but the sound quality from the early presses are different class AND the Deep grooved heavy vinyl outlasts the others, totally built to last
This is one of the most desirable versions of Hunky Dory after the Laminated Cover version
Matrix 2E/3T. Etchings Rasputin" - this is indicative of very earliest pressing. Yes, it has the early Titanic publishing credit - but it's those etchings that identify the very earliest copies. The earliest copies have lovely shiny labels and are pressed really heavy [so, more than one reason to go for them].
These 3T pressings are the closest to the Master recordings and you can tell because they sound sensational
I test play all my vinyl on my Project Essential deck and it plays and sounds fantastic, no sticks or jumps and most impressive of all there is very little surface noise, a few clicks here and there in the quiet parts of the album but overall it's a beauty
The Vinyl is lovely and clean with a great gloss, there are a few non feel able marks you get with vinyl but there is NOTHING major to concern you and nothing to affect the playback because it sounds totally superb. The first heavy deep grooved Hunky Dory issues are proper old school vinyl, they outlast and outsound all others, all day long..
The original inner lyric sheet is in outstanding condition. Very clean as well.
The album cover is also in excellent condition
Hunky Dory covers do not age well, they are 50 years old after all but this cover is strong rigid and sturdy with good seams! Just a bit of buffing on the corners
The cover has A little bit of ring wear but as I say it's MILES better than the majority of others for sale
The Spine is good and EASILY readable
The rear of the cover is also in great condition and is very clean most importantly it's still nice and white and hasn't got too discoloured and dirty like most others.
Has a slight crease of on the left hand at the bottom as you look at it
But as I always say on my listing! Study the pics to decide for yourself as well
This copy has been really well cared for.
I've priced it VERY competitively. Look at the others available for far far more.. Are they better than mine?.. I doubt it
Sorry for the long winded description but I feel it's important to get as much detail as possible for anyone interested.
I wouldn't buy an album with a 3 line description. Maybe works for some folk. But not me.
Don't take a chance on an over described auction sale of Hunky Dory. Buy this one.. I know an excellent Hunky Dory when I see one
