DAVE HOLLAND QUINTET "Jumpin' In" LP | 1984 ECM German 1st Press | Steve Coleman | Kenny Wheeler
A landmark album of 1980s modern jazz and the stunning debut of a legendary band. This is an original 1984 German first pressing of the Dave Holland Quintet's "Jumpin' In," on the iconic ECM Records.
A Powerhouse Quintet of Modern Masters
Led by the virtuosic British bassist Dave Holland, this album marked the arrival of one of the most exciting and influential small groups of the decade. The powerhouse quintet features a multi-generational lineup of absolute masters: the unmistakable brass of Canadian trumpeter Kenny Wheeler, the adventurous trombone of Julian Priester, the dynamic drumming of Steve Ellington, and the explosive debut of a young alto saxophonist who would go on to change the course of jazz, Steve Coleman. The music is energetic, intricate, and deeply swinging, all respectfully dedicated to the memory and music of the great Charles Mingus.
ECM Digital: An Audiophile Landmark
This is a key ECM release from the early digital era, noted on the cover as an "ECM DIGITAL" recording. Captured in October 1983 at the famed Tonstudio Bauer, Ludwigsburg, this album offers the exceptional clarity and sonic depth that the label is famous for, all perfectly translated to this high-quality West German vinyl pressing.
Detailed Condition Report (Goldmine Standard)
Vinyl: Very Good Plus (VG+)
A strong and well-maintained copy. The vinyl retains a beautiful gloss and has clearly been well cared for. Under a strong light, some light, superficial surface marks and paper scuffs are visible, but nothing deep or feelable. An excellent listening copy that will play with minimal, unobtrusive background noise in the quietest passages.
Sleeve: Very Good Plus (VG+)
The original sleeve is clean, solid, and very presentable. It shows moderate signs of age and shelf wear, including some rubbing and light creasing on the front and back surfaces, light ring wear, and some softening and wear to the corners and edges. The spine is strong and fully legible. Please see all photos for a detailed view.
