ORIGINAL UK HARVEST (SHVL 777) FIRST PRESSING (June 1970) OF DEEP PURPLE'S BLISTERING CLASSIC, "In Rock" IN BARELY PLAYED CONDITION DELIVERING CLEAN AUDIO THROUGHOUT WITH AN INCREDIBLY POWERFUL, SHARP, RICH AND VIBRANT SOUND WITH NOTHING TO FAULT - GREAT COPY
PRESSED ON QUALITY MID/HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL WITH THE GREEN/YELLOW HARVEST LABELS WHICH HAVE THE FIRST ISSUE "THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD...." RIM TEXT AND NO EMI BOXED LOGO

THE LP IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL, SOFT-BACKED, OUTER LAMINATED GATEFOLD SLEEVE WITH FACTORY SEALED LEFT SIDE EDGE "Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd." (date coded '7006' - 1970 June)
AND COMES COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL HARVEST COMPANY INNER SLEEVE
After satisfying all of their classical music kinks with keyboard player Jon Lord's overblown Concerto for Group and Orchestra, Deep Purple's soon to be classic Mark II version made its proper debut and established the sonic blueprint that would immortalise this lineup of the band on 1970's awesome In Rock.
The cacophony of sound (spearheaded by Ritchie Blackmore's blistering guitar solo) introducing opener "Speed King" made it immediately obvious that the band was no longer fooling around, but the slightly less intense "Bloodsucker" did afford stunned listeners a chance to catch their breaths before the band launched into the album's epic, ten-minute tour de force, "Child in Time."
In what still stands as arguably his single greatest performance, singer Ian Gillan led his bandmates on a series of hypnotising crescendos, from the song's gentle beginning through to its ear-shattering climax and then back again for an even more intense encore that brought the original vinyl album's seismic first side to a close.
Side two opened with the searing power chords of "Flight of the Rat" -- another example of the band's new take-no-prisoners hard rock stance, though at nearly eight minutes, it too found room for some extended soloing from Blackmore and Lord.
Next, "Into the Fire" and "Living Wreck" proved more concise but equally appealing and the die was cast for one of heavy metal's defining albums

LABELS: The labels are clean, bright and unworn and the spindle markings that they do display appear to be from just one or two careless attempts to find the spindle hole (they are long and trail many times around the centre - please see close-up photos) but I am confident that this copy has only ever been played once or twice - EXCELLENT++
VINYL Visual: The vinyl surfaces still retain their original deep, like new glossy sheen and are unmarked save for one superficial thumbnail mark on Side Two - but this is purely cosmetic and has no audio consequence whatsoever - NEAR MINT/EXCELLENT+
VINYL Audio: Sensational sound - incredibly strong and vibrant - full of restless energy and excitement and on playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing) there are no scratches, sticks/jumps, no clicks/pops or indeed any audio issues of note - it plays beautifully and cleanly throughout with the quieter passages, such as the gentle intro to "Child In Time", practically silent. Lovely copy - critically graded a very strong NEAR MINT for sound quality - it's practically flawless and one of the finest copies I've heard in a long time
SLEEVE: The outer laminated G&L gatefold sleeve is also in fine condition with little wear to speak of. The edges are crisp and square with no signs of storage rubbing at all and the spine displays all text clear and bold. The outer surfaces have a beautiful deep, glass-like glossy sheen which again, shows no signs of wear or surface rubbing and the inner surfaces are clean and unmarked. Overall, a beautifully preserved sleeve - NEAR MINT
The original Harvest inner bag is also in great condition with no splits to any of its edges - just some of the normal age-related discolouration to the areas where the glue has been used to fix the poly-lining - NEAR MINT
(The LP is now housed - and will be posted in - a new inner (with anti-static liner) to prevent any 'knifing' damage to the original during transit)
