Description
This is a gently used 12" vinyl LP with the original PS (picture sleeve jacket) by DAVID BOWIE titled THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD. This is the original FIRST PRESSING from 1970 on Mercury Records. It's #SR 61325 Stereo. This is the original jacket with the cartoon artwork. See the pics for further details. The vinyl is VG+ or better. It's very clean & shiny and still has the magnetic pull to it when pulling it out of the inner paper sleeve. If this was ever on a turntable, it might've been just a few times upon its' initial release. It's been housed & protected since then in a collection. Like all vinyl, there may or may not be some surface noise when playing. By the looks of the vinyl under a strong light, I see some light scribbly surface marks (looks more like it's from the paper inner sleeve, mostly on Side 1 & a little on Side 2) so this disclaimer is always needed. There's a definite scratch/scuff mark on track 2 of side 2-Savior Machine. I'm not sure if this will affect play of this song but it's there. I don't have the equipment to play test the record so this is graded under a strong light. I suggest to PLAY IT LOUD! If you're a serious collector with a record cleaning machine or good cloths & proper record wash, I'm sure the scribbly lines will come off. The red labels with black lettering are very clean. NO spindle marks on them. The Matrix numbers are stamped in the trail off area on both sides between the labels & the last song. They are: SR 61325-A-M2 (Side 1) & SR 61325-B-M1 (Side 2). The plain inner sleeve is yellowed from aging & some folds/crease marks on 2 corners of the same side. The thick cardboard jacket is in VG condition with minor dings, marks, etc., around it from handling. The lower left corner has a hole punch right at & below the cartoon line. This went thru the inner paper sleeve & out the rear of the jacket. This is because this album upon release was a failure. So hence, most of these lp's wound up in the cutout bins. NO split seams. There is some minor ringwear front & back. On the rear, the lyrics to the song The Supermen is 1/8" above the cartoon bubble with the words Oh By Jingo. On later releases, this spacing was larger. As of this writing, this record is appx 52 years old. A true David Bowie rarity in very good condition in all aspects except for that scuff/scratch. I'm very cautious when grading & very critical about it. I may overstate some of the conditions but better safe than sorry! THIS ITEM IS SOLD AS IS. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Shipping is FREE media mail in the USA. International buyers pay for shipping & rates vary by country. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM IF ANY OF THESE CONDITIONS WILL BOTHER YOU OR BE A PROBLEM FOR YOU!
