Originally released in the UK in late 1969 On offer here is an original first UK pressing of David's 1969 stunning second release features 9 self penned songs. . The musical arrangements are by Bowie and Tony Visconti, with production by Tony Visconti with Engineers Ken Scott, Malcolm Toft and Barry Sheffield. And it was recorded at Trident studios in London between June/Sept 1969.
The Philips vinyl which has been in my collection for a number of years, is good, both visually and audibly, and is free from any sticks or jumps all though it does need to be played with a light needle due to a pressing fault on the track JANINE. The labels are clean showing no graffiti or sticker residue etc.
The fragile gatefold sleeve showing cover photography by Vernon Dewhurst and stunning back cover art by George underwood I would describe as good. There is a two inch repair above the Philips logo on the top right, and there is also wear to the extremities. Fortunately unlike a lot of copies there is no graffiti such as previous owners names and address's etc.
The spine has worn corners and the text is only partially readable. A decent item for any Bowie collector who does not want to shell out £250+ plus for an excellent copy.
All in all a decent example of this second Very Rare Bowie release.
As a collector myself, I know how frustrating and disappointing it is to receive a tatty item which bears very little resemblance to the description given. I try hard to be as accurate as I can when grading, and use all sources available - including the 'Record Collector Grading System.
Nor will I neglect to mention glaringly obvious vandalism such as writing on the label or sleeve. Which amazingly have been omitted from a lot of descriptions to purchases I have unfortunately gone on to make!
