Description

This was the first copy of the Dress Cover that I purchased & I was very happy to get it as I had never actually seen one up till then. I have since upgraded, at a price! This is an original record & sleeve from 1971 , on Mercury ,  6338041, sleeve of course withdrawn in 1972. It is a first pressing , Matrix  6338041   1Y//1 v ( or inverted triangle) 420 - 1 - 1    4 Side 2 .. 6338041   2Y//1 v (or inverted triangle)420 - 1 1 1. It has other marks of a first pressing: a circled 'P' in front of the date on the labels , no gap in the word 'Broadcasting' around the label rim, Bowie's boot 10mm. from the edge of the cover & the drummer's name mis-spelt as Mick Woodmansley. The vinyl is VG with no clicks or jumps. It has a good solid sound, inspite of a  light scuffs & scratches.
The cover has had a harder life . There is noticeable ring wear on the front, particularly the left hand side & tape  residue marks on the spine side & bottom  front & back. There are 2 white patches(approx. 3 mm.) on front cover, can be seen on the photo amongst the playing cards. There is the usual rubbing on edges , the spine is illegible & there are 3 splits : top edge 3cm, bottom edge 2 & a half cm. & spine 4cm. ( all approx) I have tried to show these by inserting my hand inside the cover & opening them. I have been  harsh but honest  with my description BUT this is  a rare & iconic album worth having!

Records graded in line with The Record Collectors Grading System as shown below:
Mint (M) Record is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration of sound quality. The cover, lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition . Some may be sealed or unplayed. Excellent (EX.)Record shows signs of having been played but there is little lessening of sound quality.  An excellent cover may have slight wear and/ or creasing. Very Good (VG.) Record has obviously been played many times , but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and light scratches. A very good cover shows normal wear and tear for its age with no major defects. Plus(+) or Minus(-) is used to show that the item lies between grades. Company sleeves are not graded!
All records have been played to check sound quality (apart from Mint) . They have been played on a hi-fi system using a Shure M75ED Type 2 cartridge, tracking at 1.5gms.
We try to be accurate with grading & if in doubt we tend to undergrade, however mistakes may  occur & if there are any problems please contact me directly. Refunds will be made if not happy, but not, I'm afraid postage costs.
Please pay within 4 days & items will be dispatched within 2 working days of payment being  cleared. Royal Mail are usually good but I cannot take responsibility for delivery times.
Records will be packed in mailers with stiffeners. I have sent records, including 78s, all  over the world and have never had breakages!
