 with the inscription:

 "to leonard; thank you for trying to understand "my" music. the fact that we have communicated through so many albums surely must mean that we are not too far apart as people. david axelrod 6/7/72 "

i would presume this to be leonard feather who reviewed many of davids productions but could also possibly be leonard malarsky who played strings on many of his productions.
