Description
Commander Venus/Drip split 7" released on Ghostmeat/Lumberjack in 1996. This was from right around the time Lumberjack Records changed names to Saddle Creek (which explains why all Saddle Creek catalog numbers start with LBJ). Drip has two future members of Now It's Overhead. Commander Venus features Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes, Desaparecidos, Mystic Valley Band, Monsters of Folk) in one of his very first bands after releasing a few insanely rare solo cassettes on the Sing Eunuchs label. I believe he was about 16 at the time of this recording. Other members are Todd Baechle (The Faint, Bright Eyes), Matt Bowen (The Faint), Tim Kasher (Cursive, The Good Life), and Robb Nansel (Saddle Creek founder). Hard to believe that one single group had members of Bright Eyes, The Faint, and Cursive but there it is. I am not certain how many of these were pressed. One source I found on the web claims 300 pressed, but that sounds less likely to me than, say, 500. Either way it's pretty rare, sought after, and doesn't show up very often.
Commander Venus - "Bow to the Prom King" / Drip - "Last Go"
Beautiful sparkling blue vinyl in excellent shape. There is some slight wrinkling on the sleeve and a tiny (1/4-inch) tear at the sleeve's top center. The dark spot above the words "split single" appears to be a spot of old residue of some kind - could probably be cleaned up if you're particular about that sort of thing. Note there is a reasonable reserve set on this record, but don't be afraid to bid.
