Another from my personal collection. This original 1969 1st UK pressing is rare in any condition let alone in this virtualy unplayed condition! One of my all time favourite blues albums. Officially Johnny Winters first ever album released in the UK in 1969 over 40 years ago on the original Blue Liberty labels! This vinyl has barely been played more than three or four times only! The audio is truly perfect on my systems! The 1st issue fully laminated cover is also in awesome condition! A true collectors copy for any avid blues or Johnny Winter collector!!! 

The Progressive Blues Experiment is the first album by Johnny Winter!. The Progressive Blues Experiment was originally issued on Austin's famous Sonobeat Records label in 1968 in the US. When Winter signed to Columbia Records, the rights were sold to Imperial Records who reissued the album in 1969. Johnny plays here in trio with his late sixties band. This record is pure blues at its best!. In the UK (This album on offer), was released on the Liberty labels in 1969!!  Several blues artists are covered including BB King ("It's My Own Fault"), Sonny Boy Williamson ("Help Me"), and Slim Harpo ("I Got Love If You Want It")!!.

Johnny Winter first began performing at an early age with his younger brother, Edgar Winter. Johnny's very first TV appearance was on a local children's television show that aired in Houston and Beaumont markets called the Don Mahoney and Jeana Claire show!!.

His recording career began at the age of 15, when their band Johnny and the Jammers released "School Day Blues" on a Houston record label!!.

In 1968, he released his first album on Austin's legendary Sonobeat Records, The Progressive Blues Experiment!

The Vinyl

On initial inspection the vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable!! The vinyl retains its original glossy sheen from new and the playing looks truly superbe! AWESOME for an unbelievable 40 years old!!! On intitial inspection of the playing surface I CAN'T SEE A BLEMISH AT ALL!!  Only in very strong light could possibly any light sleeve removal marks be seen only (NO) audio sounding needle scratches or marks can be seen or heard! This plays through cristal clear and vibrant throughout with (no) signs of grooveware or that this has been overplayed WHAT SO EVER!!IN FACT THIS HAS ONLY EVER BEEN PLAYED NO MORE THAN TWO OR THREE TIMES EVER!!! I heard no problems and rate the audio at the top on all frequencies!!NEAR MINT! STUNNING AUDIO SEPERATION!

The Audio Quality

This vinyl was played three times at very very loud volume on a top system! I can not emphisise enougth that the audio quality and the seperation is truly awesome, from my experiance having collected so many copies and variations over the years, that these very early originals produce the best audio quality available in any other format available!!! !UNBELEIVABLE!!) (NO) CLICKS OR POPS AND CERTAINLY (NO) JUMPS OR SKIPS!!! THE AUDIO IS ABSOLUTELY TOP! TOP! ON ALL FREQUENCIES!!!!  Please note! This would benefit from a constant clean before each play which would reduce any static crackle! This has been stored in a case for the best part of 25 years and build up of dirt and dust in the grooves subsequently cause static crackle! I have noted debrit that could be seen on the playing surface after play! I MUST EMPHISISE THAT THE AUDIO IS RATED AT THE VERY TOP!! CRISTAL CLEAR AND VERY VERY VIBRANT!  VERY NEAR MINT AUDIO!!!! I would class myself as highly critical! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!!! I would rate this audio top on all frequencies!!! very vibrant\awesome!!Audio Graded near mint on my system! UNBELEIVABLE FOR A 41 YEAR OLD VINYL !!!!!

Points to note! I have played this vinyl at very loud volume using a top system!  I always add this disclaimer! I have given my very honest opinion on the audio quality as I heard it! Please allow for the odd very (very) light static (not) consistant throughout the audio!! Please remember this is a genuine 40 year old vinyl that would have been played on a 40 year old system!!!!! UP THERE WITH ONE OF THE BEST THAT I HAVE HEARD OF THIS 1st ISSUE VARIATION!!!

The labels

These are the original 1st issue Blue Liberty labels (only 1st UK press) In almost perfect condition! Please note only a few were released on these blue labels and then were superceded by the black\blue Liberty labels!  Only angled to the light can barely a handful of spinder marks possibly be seen! This vinyl has only ever been played three or four times only (unbeleivable to find like this)!!

This is the original poly lined sleeve without splits or tares!

The Cover

This is the fully laminated MacNeil Press printed cover, in truly awesome condition, very few laminate creases only, one more noticable at the front bottom left corner only. this is super glossy in appearance. There is no splits or tares all text is legable! This must grade at least excellent to excellent plus!!
