For many this remains the best Cocteaus record, despite all the later glories. I guess it captures them at a time when there was still a post-punk edge to their music. Though, this may be an oversimplification. Even here, the sound world is pretty extravagant, even by 80s standards. Bells chime, synths cascade, thick bass lines thunder against sheets of crystalline guitar effects and feedback. Liz Fraser cooing and warbling and howling through the waterfalls of noise, demonstrating an incredible vocal range. It's as heady and intoxicating as the Cocteau Twins came and has aged very well. A gorgeous flower from the UK indie hothouse of the 80s.
Record plays perfectly, no scratches Sleeve is in excellent condition. Original inner sleeve also in excellent condition. There have been a number of re-issues and re-masterings over the years, but this is the original pressing from the eighties.
