Vinyl on Mercury 20170 SMCL
RARE HOLY GRAIL OF FOLK
ONLY 500 PRESSED IN 1969 AND THEN MASTER TAPES WERE DESTROYED
Vinyl in Excellent condition overall being very clean and shiny. On visual examination with strong light i saw a 2-3 mm light scratch at the start of track 1 on side 2 , and very light sleeve removals through tracks 2 and 3 and a very light scuff mark at the end of track 6 into the runoff.
Side 1 looked under strong light in Ex+ condition
The labels show quite a lot of spindle marks and spindle wear.
The fully laminated Sleeve is in VG+ condition with a 3 cm split on the middle of the top edge, slight bending to the top right corner, shelf wear to corners and to the bottom edge. There is some damp staining to the both sides of the top right corner, but overall it looks pretty good.
I have listened to this Vinyl twice using a Rega Planar 3 turntable fitted with a Linn Basic Cartridge and stylus, through a Yamaha Natural Sound Amplifier AX390 on high volume with the treble turned to full to exaggerate any problems
Side 1
Track 1 had some very faint crackle in the background,
Track 2 was quiet apart from 4 x loud pops about halfway through
Very slight crackle was heard in the space between 2 and 3 which disappeared in track 3 which was quiet thruought.
Track 4 had some slight crackle in the quiet intro which was more quiet through the track
Track 5 and 6 were quiet thruought.
Side 2
There was some slight crackle on the intro on track 1 which lessened to very light crackle in the space through 1 and 2
There was some very light crackle on track 2 but it was mostly quiet,
Some very light crackle in the space between 2 and 3
2/3 rds way through track 3 several quiet pops were heard, and track 4 had some very light low crackle lessening through the track
track 5 was quiet as was track 6 with a little low crackle in the space between track 5 and 6.
REMEMBER THIS WAS LISTENED TO ON HIGH VOLUME WITH HIGH TREBLE SO NORMAL LISTENING WOULD BE VERY PLEASURABLE !!
The record will be packed within a plastic sleeve seperated from the sleeve and despatched within 2 x 1cm thick polystyrene tiles to avoid any possible damage.
It will be sent recorded and insured to the appropriate value.
