Description
Artist: Chet Baker Title: Chet Baker Sings Label/Number: Pacific Jazz PJ-1222 (M) Jacket condition: VG+ Record condition: NM Notes: The cover is in nice condition with some light ring wear and a couple of corner "dings" detracting a little. There are also a few small tears on the back cover apparently from tape or sticker removal. The front cover could probably grade at EX but the tears on the back, even though they are small, lead me to grade the overall cover at VG+. The labels are in very nice condition with just a couple of light spindle marks. The vinyl is bright and glossy with a couple of very light surface scuffs but nothing that would warrant grading it down from NM. Grading: Grading is usually only visual for VG+ or better items, although if time allows I may play to verify the quality of a pressing or just to hear the music. VG items are usually only listed if they are fairly hard-to-find items and are always play graded. Regardless of the grade, if I do play the LP, I note the results in the item description. I use Goldmine standards with Ebay's EX grade added for items NOT QUITE up to NM; but please read the notes above as I try to note anything that might influence the grading one way or another. I try to be conservative and grade as though I were buying the record and hope my feedback speaks well for my grading. Mono (M) or Stereo (S) is noted after catalog number. Don't hesitate to e-mail questions. Mailing and costs: Domestic shipping is via USPS, media mail with delivery confirmation. I ship in cardboard mailers made specifically for records with additional cardboard pads for added protection. Shipping and handling charges are a flat $4.00 for the first LP and $1.00 per additional LP. Overseas shipping on purchases under $100.00 may be sent by USPS First Class Mail International but I will upgrade at the buyer's request. Orders for more than $100.00 will need to be by Priority Mail International. This provides added protection for both the buyer and for me. The price will be the actual shipping costs plus $1.50 for the mailer and pads noted above. I know that customs charges are problematic but, sorry to say, I cannot lower the value on the customs form below the purchase price.
I always mail in a poly sleeve with the record outside the jacket. If there's an original inner sleeve I also remove the record from that and put it in a plain sleeve for mailing. That way, there are no seam splits on either the jacket or the sleeve due to any handling in the mail. I'm always happy to combine shipping costs for multiple purchases.
Don't hesitate to check out my other items! Be sure to add me to your favorites list, too.
On Apr-20-13 at 13:07:02 PDT, seller added the following information:
The record looks NM, and for the most part it is, but I had a request to play grade the LP and when I did so I discovered a couple of items that need to be noted. The record plays with a few light "ticks"--only very intermittently and not too distracting. More importantly, though, there is a small, about 1/8", scratch on Side 1, Cut 4 ("My Ideal") that creates a "tick" for about 20 revolutions. I completely missed it when I was grading the LP. It does distract a bit from the music. If I were allowed to change the original listing without taking it down, I might grade the entire record down to EX due to that scratch and the resultant tick. Rather than take the listing down, I will provide this clarification and ask all current and potential bidders to take this information into consideration. Certainly any of the current bidders should feel free to retract their bids if they choose.
