COSMOS FACTORY - Analogue Productions 180 Gram Heavy Virgin Vinyl LP re-mastered from the Original Master Tapes by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray at AcousTech Mastering. Michael Fremer, Senior Contributing Editor, STEREOPHILE, Music Editor, LISTENER, says I have just listened to the CCR pressings mastered by Kevin Gray and Steven Hoffman and let me tell you: when the bass kicked in, I thought I was playing a 45 at 33 1/3 it was so deep and thick but it was 33 1/3 and when the guitars kicked in, it was WOWIE!!!!!
This is as close to listening to a Master Tape as I have heard from vinyl. .Gray built the cutting system from scratch, including transformerless, discrete, Class-A amplification from tape head to cutter head. It features a Neumann VMS 66 lathe with the finest add-on computer that allows Gray to adjust groove spacing and to let the maximum amount of density onto each disc.
The system also includes a Technics SP-02 turntable motor that features high torque with low rumble.
COSMOs FACTORY - The drummer, DougClifford gave CCRs rehearsal studio its name because so many hits were created there and lived up to its namesake in spades. Released in July 1970, the album contained more hit singles (six) than any other CR LP, achieved multi-platinum status and became the bands all-time best selling album both in the U.S. and worldwide (69 weeks on the Billboard Charts). In addition, the trailblazing extended version of I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE (which Rolling Stone pronounced more intense than any six minutes of Grateful Dead music on record; was never released as a single during the groups heyday but received enormous AM and FM airplay, boosting both the song and the LP to NO.1 on all three trade music charts.
BAYOU COUNTRY - is the CCR 1969 release which birthed two classic-rock staples--"Born on the Bayou" and "Proud Mary." Then there's the characteristically savvy cover ("Good Golly Miss Molly") and the jams ("Graveyard Train" and "Keep on Chooglin") -- for Creedence, Bayou Country is a stepping stone to greater heights.
MARDI GRAS - Creedence Clearwater Revival released their final album, 'Mardi Gras', four years after thier amazing self-titled debut rocketed them to superstardom. This album, was to be however, their most unique, misunderstood, and unsuccessful effort, commercially. It was however, the group's most ambitious album ever. This record never worked for several reasons: First, founding member, rhythm guitarist (and brother of frontman John)Tom Fogerty had already departed prior to this project; Also, Lead guitarist (and up until this album, the only vocalist)John Fogerty had finally relinquished his "lead man" duties to satisfy the musical urges of the two remaining members. The now trio split the songwriting and vocal duties equally. And finally, the formula of this record was doomed because the overall musical feel on this recording was a little unique for CCR - 1972 country, at a time when country simply wasn't cool. Aside from all that, this album should not be taken too seriously, considering its overall fun attitude and lightheartedness.
Self-Titled - With the release of this extraordinary debut album in July 1968, Creedence Clearwater Revival was launched upon a career that little more than a year later would lead to enormous worldwide popularity. The four-man group from San Francisco's East Bay had worked ten years as a bar band and recorded several singles on the Scorpio label (under the forgettable name Golliwogs), but it was with this Fantasy release that CCR caught fire. Lead singer/ guitarist/ writer John Fogerty emerges as a fine lyric shouter with "Ninety-Nine and a Half," "I Put A Spell On You" and "Suzie Q," a brilliant extended redition of the Dale Hawkins classic that quickly became a Top Ten Hit.
WILLIE AND THE POOR BOYS - So popular was CCR worldwide that by 1970 the group was consistently scoring hits on both the A and B sides of its singles, a feat previously accomplished only by Elvis Presley and the Beatles. This release from November 1969 proved no exception, containing "Fortunate Son" and "Down On The Corner," the latter becoming one of CCR’s biggest hits to date. Fogerty’s fine gritty voice and his tight vocal overdubbing are standouts, along with his excellent renditions of "Cotton Fields" and "Midnight Special." All of those hits plus "It Came Out Of The Sky" and "Don’t Look Now (It Ain’t You Or Me)" .
There have been so few vinyl LPs produced over the last 5 years that you should never pass up the opportunity to upgrade your collection. They're each very limited in their pressings disappear with extraordinary quickness from the vinyl market. This causes prices to skyrocket because once they are gone, they are gone forever! Don't second-guess yourself with this chance to upgrade your collection because before you know it, the opportunity will have passed forever.
