Description
COUNT OWEN AND HIS CALYPSONIANS 'Down Jamaica Way' on the Kalypso label - catalogue number is FR 1001.
a rare 1960's Jamaican pressing of Count Owen's first album, housed in a thick card sleeve. the sleeve itself looks to be a promotional version, as it's plain in colour with one record label stuck to the front. there's also a hand-written dedication from Count Owen.
i would grade the sleeve as GOOD. it's not in bad shape considering that it's around 50 years old, but there is some discolouration and light wear. the spine has a small opening of about one inch where the record has rubbed over the years.
after giving the album a listen in full i would grade it as VERY GOOD. there is a little bit of surface noise inbetween tracks but nothing that ruins the listening experience. i probably heard no more than 2 or 3 very faint pops at most, with just a suggestion of crackle here and there. the record does have a few light hairline marks but none of them are audible. overall this a very decent copy of a scarce Jamaican pressing.
the album has been cleaned on an Okki Nokki record cleaning machine and placed in a new white paper inner.
i'll pack the record well for the winning bidder, with a card stiffener either side to protect it.
