COMPLEX "COMPLEX" Exact reissue of ultra-rare 1970 Pop/Psych LP. Limited 1991 UK pressing (Swank) S 002 housed in a white sleeve w/orange paste-on cover graphics. MINT! First LP from the obscure U.K. group that is now legendary. Originals fetch hundreds of pounds & rarely turn up.
Complex were a Blackpool based psychedelic group formed in 1968. They recorded an album's worth of songs to serve as a demo in the hope of securing a major label deal in 1970. Only 99 copies were pressed making it one of the Holy Grail's of UK psychedelia. The quartet consisted of Brian Lee on guitar, Lance Fogg on bass, Steve Coe on organ & group leader Tony Shakespeare on drums & lead vocals. The songwriting duties were handled by Coe. Their sound was melodic pop psych with vocals slightly reminiscent of the Bee Gee's Robin Gibb. Key tracks are “Norwegian Butterfly”, “Images Blue” & the organ dominated closing track “Live For The Minute” but all 11 songs are quite good. A second privately pressed LP titled “The Way We Feel” was released in 1971. Again only 99 copies were pressed because a tax would be levied for larger quantities. Unfortunately, that label deal proved elusive although there was interest from EMI. Copies of these records were given away to friends, families, prospective venues & record labels at the time but they easily fetch hundreds of pounds when they turn up today. The first album was re-discovered in the 1990s & has since come out several times although this is the first reissue on Swank Records from 1991. Still only available in limited numbers & very hard to find. Here is your chance to experience one of the best privately pressed records capturing early 1970s UK Psychedelia without taking out a second mortgage.

Cover w/paste-on cover slick has no writing or tears & looks nearly new. The only flaw is a slight corner "ding" on the lower right. It earns a strong M- grading. Record w/orange "Swank" labels looks & sounds great & has received very few (if any) plays. It is in MINT condition.
