Description
A 1963 Columbia B/s UK 1st pressing of Ravel Complete Orchestral Works * Vol 1. Played by the Paris Conservatoire Orchestra with the Rene Duclos Choir and conducted by Andre Cluytens. The vinyl has a four small thin scratches on side 1, one of which produces a rotational "tick" that is heard in the soft quiet moments and not at all in the louder moments about two minutes into the 1st movement and until the end of the 1st movement. After seven "ticks" into the 2nd movement it is not heard again.Side 2 has three small faint scratches that do not produce any "ticks" and it plays as it should. I have played this record on my TEAC turntable and the music is uninterrupted even with the ticks on side 1. I must admit, classical music is not really my bag. But after listening to this three or four times I found this particular composition in a word "stunning" The blend of soft / loud and fast /slow music from the strings and horns and the perfect "marriage" of the music and the wordless chorus was something I have never heard the likes of before. I now understand why this is such an appealing and much sought after composition. I almost wanted to see what I was listening to. Anyway back to business, the outer sleeve is front laminated and in Excellent condition and the inner sleeve is a Sterephonic paper/poly lined type in Excellent condition. I offer a 14 day return service if not satisfied. Buyer pays return postage. If this item sells it will be sent as 2nd class signed for post at a cost of £3.90 within the UK ONLY.
