CONDITION

SLEEVE: (VG+) NON LAMINATED UK GATEFOLD SLEEVE HAS LIGHT WEAR FROM HANDLING AND STORAGE. LIGHT EDGE SCUFFING AND MILD/HEAVY CORNER RUBBING. THE INSIDE IS CLEAN WITH SOME ISOLATED WEAR. NO WRITING NO STICKERS NO RIPS & NO SPLITS.

SPINE: (VG) THE TEXT AND CAT NO ARE CLEARLY READABLE WITH SOME MILD RUBBING TO THE MIDDLE AND MILD/HEAVY RUBBING TO TOP AND BOTTOM CORNERS WHERE THE SURFACE HAS LIFTED/RUBBED AWAY. NO SPLITS.

INNER: (F) ORIGINAL PAPER POLYLINED SWIRL INNER IS NOT IN GREAT SHAPE. THE POLYLINING HAS COME UNSTUCK AND THE PREVIOUS OWNER OR OWNERS HAVE WRITTEN A COUPLE OF NAMES TO THE TOP CORNERS AND WRITTEN 'COLOSSEUM' ACROSS THE TOP (ALL IN BLUE BIRO). ALSO THE LEFT SIDE HAS 2" SPLIT TO THE MIDDLE. A NEW PLAIN POLYLINED INNER WILL BE INCLUDED TO PROTECT THE VINYL. THESE SWIRL INNERS ARE EASY TO FIND ON EBAY SO COULD BE REPLACED.

LABELS: (VG-) BOTH LABELS ARE FREE FROM ANY UNWANTED WRITING & STICKERS WITH A FEW SPINDLE MARKS AROUND THE CENTRE HOLE ON EACH SIDE AND SOME STAINING AND DISCOLOURATION NOTICEABLE WHEN ANGLED UNDER BRIGHT LIGHT. NO WRITING NO STICKERS.

VINYL VISUALLY: SIDE 1 (G) SIDE 2 (F) BOTH SIDES ARE FLAT & GLOSSY AND HAVE OBVIOUSLY BEEN PLAYED MANY TIMES! EACH SIDE HAS LOTS OF MILD AND HEAVY PAPER SCUFFS (IN ALL DIRECTIONS) AND A FEW LONG HAIRLINES. LOOKS LIKE MOST OF THE MARKS MIGHT HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY INCORRECT OR OVER ENTHUSIASTIC CLEANING OR BAD STORAGE OR HANDLING. THE MAJOR DEFECT WITH THIS VINYL IS A DEEP FEELABLE 1" LONG SCRATCH AT THE VERY START OF SIDE 2 (CLEARLY SHOWN IN PICTURES). IT HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN CAUSED BY A BAD ACCIDENT AND YOU CERTAINLY WOULD RISK PLAYING THAT PART OF THE RECORD (YOU WOULD PROBABLY BREAK YOUR NEEDLE!). LUCKILY IT IS AT THE VERY START AND YOU ONLY MISS THE FADED INTRO AND THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE SIDE. MY AUDIO RECORDING WAS STARTED AT THE END OF THE SCRATCH WHERE IT IS NOT AS DEEP.  WITHOUT THIS SCRATCH I WOULD EASILY GRADE (G). STRICT GRADING!

PLAYING GRADE: SIDE1 (EX) SIDE 2 (FAIR BECAUSE OF THE DEEP SCRATCH AT THE VERY START OF THE SIDE - THE REST OF THE SIDE PLAYS EXCELLENT) BOTH SIDES HAVE BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO ON BEYER-DYNAMIC DT-150 HEADPHONES ON A COUPLE OF SYSTEMS WITH A SHURE WHITE LABEL CARTRIDGE & STEREO NEEDLE AND OVERALL SIDE 1 PLAYS AT LEAST EXCELLENT IF NOT HIGHER WITH ONLY A FEW VERY ISOLATED POPS, SUPERB CLEAR SOUND AND VERY LOUD PRODUCTION WITH BARELY ANY BACKGROUND CRACKLE. SIDE 2 IS THE SAME BUT UNFORTUNATELY  HAS A DEEP SCRATCH AT THE VERY START THAT WOULD CAUSE MULTIPLE JUMPS OR SKIPS AND PROBABLY BREAK THE NEEDLE! I STARTED THE AUDIO FILE RECORDING FOR SIDE 2 AT THE VERY END OF THIS SCRATCH AND IT CAUSES A FEW MILD POPS BUT AFTER THAT THE REST OF THE SIDE PLAYS AT LEAST EXCELLENT. THIS VINYL PLAYS MUCH BETTER THAN IT LOOKS! THIS VINYL HAS BEEN STORED UNTOUCHED FOR 45 YEARS SO MAY BENEFIT FROM A PROFESSIONAL MACHINE CLEAN. NO DISTORTION! I AM BEING HIGHLY CRITICAL AND MY PLAY GRADE IS ALWAYS BASED ON WHAT I CAN HEAR ON BEYER-DYNAMIC DT-150 HEADPHONES WITH THE TREBLE TURNED UP FULL! EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO FIND IN ANY CONDITION ESPECIALLY AS A GENUINE EARLIEST UK 1ST PRESSING ON THE BLACK AND WHITE VERTIGO SWIRL/SPIRAL LABEL! THE PRODUCTION ON THIS ALBUM IS SIMPLY AWESOME AND IS FAR SUPERIOR TO ANY DIGITAL REMASTER OR VINYL REPRESSING. A PRESENTABLE AND GREAT SOUNDING COPY OF AN INCREASINGLY RARE COLOSSEUM CLASSIC NOT TO BE MISSED! JUDGE FOR YOURSELF AND LISTEN TO THE WHOLE ALBUM - CHECK THE LINK BELOW!!

THIS ALBUM HAS BEEN RECORDED AT A LOW LEVEL WITH ALL EQ SETTINGS AT 12 O'CLOCK ON A TECHNICS SL-1210MK2 TURNTABLE WITH A SHURE WHITE LABEL CARTRIDGE AND STEREO NEEDLE. THE AUDIO FILE HAS NOT BEEN BOOSTED, EDITED OR PROCESSED IN ANY WAY - I HAVE LITERALLY PUT THE NEEDLE ON THE RECORD AND RECORDED BOTH SIDES INCLUDING RUN-INS AND RUN-OUTS. IT WAS RECORDED ON CUBASE 6.5 AT 16BIT 44.1kHZ THEN EXPORTED AS MP3 FILE AT 320KBPS. WHAT YOU CAN HEAR IS WHAT THE VINYL SOUNDS LIKE!!

GRADING

All records are graded using the Record Collector Grading System with (+) or (-) to show a slightly higher or lower grade.

M (Mint) : The Record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EX (Excellent): The Record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VG (Very Good) : The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

G (Good) : The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

F (Fair) : The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Overseas all records are posted via Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed, tracked or signed depending on what options are available. All vinyl is posted using correct card record mailers/cruciform boxes with at least 5 cardboard stiffners. The sleeve is always sent in a new poly outer and the vinyl is put in a new polylined paper inner outside of the sleeve to avoid splits/damage during transit. 7" vinyls sleeves are sent in a new PVC outer and the vinyl is put in a new card inner outside of sleeve.
