CLEAN 1964 MONO Original BEAT INVASION FROM ENGLAND!!!
The SEARCHERS
Needles And Pins
\ USA - KAPP RECORDS - KL 1363
This is the (clean original) American release of the debut Searchers album "Meet The Searchers". It has a different track listing and different cover art. Very high quality British Invasion. "Needles & Pins" is a true classic.
MINTY CLEAN....Original 1964 first pressing in glorious MONO of the terrific UK Invasion sounds of The Searchers with their above mentioned and timeless hit "Needles & Pins" ...loved and copied by generations of musicians...
When measuring the strength of the British Invasion wave that eventually hit the shores in America in 1964, the part of the wave that was the Searchers will probably be remembered as the secondary wave, the smaller wave, the wave largely built from foamy bubbles that popped and soaked into the sand upon arrival. However, in their native land of Britain, the Searchers were a casual mixing of Britain's two top groups of the time; the Shadows and their Mersey side counterparts, the Beatles.
Though they never equaled the level of musicianship of either of those groups, the Searchers played their part in establishing themselves as part of the new sound emanating from the clubs and cellars of working class Britain, the sound that took America by storm in 1964.
So with that in mind, "Meet The Searchers" can serve as a bit of a time capsule for that era and that "Mersey" sound, its high points, "Love Potion #9" and "Since You Broke My Heart", and of course "Needles and Pins" only begin to tell the story of a solid "beatrock Invasion" number.... The Searchers even 'rock-out' on tunes like "Farmer John" and "Alright" playing the songs fast and uptempo, making the songs come alive. The Searchers version of "Stand By Me" is one of those 'so bad --it's good' recordings -- the band doesn't know when to end the song, as evidenced by the drummer's near cymbal crash just seconds before its eventual ending. Another hidden gem by the way is "Since You Broke My Heart".
