                     BLOOD SWEAT & TEARS

                 USA - 360 SOUND COLUMBIA - CS 9619

RARE ORIGINAL 1968 M- VINYL on the highly collected 360 Sound Columbia label...a rare collectible advanced released PROMOTIONAL of the very first Blood Sweat & Blues album, completely different from the band that made all the hits -- this is the first incarnation of the band formed by ex-Blues Project organist & song writer Al Kooper ...the album is steeped in the Blues, again, nothing like the other band with the same name.. ............................................................................................................. This debut album with Al Kooper as the lead singer has a different feel than the albums that would follow, with David Clayton-Thomas as the lead singer. Al Kooper also approaches the Blues - take a song like I Love you More Than You'll Ever Know. But he makes no bones about being white, and thus, it doesn't sound phony. Kooper is clearly one of the advantages of this album. The other is the diversity of the material.  Plus, Jazz-Rock fusion had not yet become formalized. The Blues plays a dominant role in the band's fusion. In the second half of the 60s, there was something in the air (or in the joints) which caused creativity to fly high. The sky was the limit. Musicians mixed any kind of sound with anything, in ways it had never been done before. And the record industry didn't know what to do, they just released the new stuff. But by the early 70s, they had understood. And their answer was: formalization. Formalization was one of the greatest setbacks of popular music in the 70s. And it wouldn't get better in the years to come.
Anyway.  Blood, Sweat & Tears' debut album has that fresh spirit of the late 60s.  Anything goes, here not meant as a postmodern reflex, but as a sign of the open minds of excellent musicians. A psychedelic guitar-driven song like My Days Are Numbered is followed by a delicate Latin Jazz tinged song like Without Her. Not all songs are made for eternity,  but in all,  the record is still fun to listen to.

Overture   1:32 I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know   5:57 Morning Glory   4:16 My Days Are Numbered   3:19 Without Her   2:41 Just One Smile   4:38 B:      I Can't Quit Her   3:38 Meagan's Gypsy Eyes   3:24 Somethin' Goin' On   8:00 House in the Country   3:04 The Modern Adventures of Plato, Diogenes and Freud   4:12

CONDITION: The cover is VG++ having just a little (acceptable) small shelf wear around the edges -- nothing that would make anyone interested put it down ...otherwise the dark cover is pretty nice -- having the promotional somg titles (radio station) strip that definitely raises the albums value. No seam splits and such, keeper rare collectible as limited promo from '68.

The vinyl is all glossy clean and totally clear M- ...TOP copy
