Caravan : For Girls Who Grow Plump In The Night 3U / 3U 1st Press 1973

This first pressing plays with incredible audio!  In essence there is no interference and the clarity of sound is STUNNING!  I sold one a couple of months back and this one is just as impressive.  Aside from the clarity what really stands out is the sheer depth, warmth and resonance of the audio and is a FINAL UPGRADE pressing for sure.  There is a little spindle wear so the vinyl has been played but in a sense that provides more evidence of just how well it has been preserved.  Visually it is stunning with no marks or scratches.  This is one superb album!

The laminated cover is excellent condition with only minimal wear and the original inner is also in excellent shape.

Visual description

The vinyl is in lovely condition and still retains an immaculate glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a couple of very faint hairlines and even they are not easy to find.  The Deram labels have no marking / writing and only a little spindle wear.  A superb example!

Play grading

The intro on 'Memory Lain, Hugh' plays with exceptional clarity and the depth of the audio - wow!  The opening vocal section has no intrusion either and the long instrumental then plays perfectly with no background at all.  Even the quieter passage plays beautifully with not even a solitary dust tick.  A perfect fade out also - this is without doubt a superb Mint start to the album.

From the very first note 'Headloss' plays to the same high end standard with no interference.  Once again you really notice the depth and warmth of the audio, the sonic quality is out of this world!  Mint is again deserved.

The intro on 'Hoedown' is 'as new' as is the opening vocal section.  It continues in the same way with no ticks, clicks, pops or static - every vocal and instrumental section plays with sublime clarity and the long fade out is flawless.  Mint

The quiet opening vocal on 'Surprise, Surprise' plays beautifully with no intrusion and the audio is just as strong as the volume / pace pick up.  It proceeds to play with a sonic quality that is second to none, there are no negatives.  Is that a viola?  It plays with stunning clarity regardless!  Another long fade out playing with impeccable clarity once more.  I cannot overstate how perfect the playback is and Mint is again the only grade I can give.

A more 'progressive' sound now and the quiet intro on 'C'Thlu Thlu' is just perfect.  The first vocal / chorus is faultless and there is no distortion on the top end.  From then on it plays so clearly with such a deep, rich sound and that is very much in evidence during the end instrumental.  It plays with STUNNING quality with phenomenal power and depth right through to the end.  The staccato conclusion has no background either.  A fantastic Mint version of this classic track.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

'The Dog, The Dog He's At It Again' has only a couple of very light statics on the opening vocal and the first chorus then plays perfectly.  From then on it play with outstanding clarity and warmth - clearly it is a very melodic track and none of the original sonic quality has been lost.  The audio is so strong and clear and the mid instrumental is a prime example of that.  The end vocal section is just as impressive and you can turn it up to max without fear of distortion.  I had to play this section again as the audio is just so STUNNING!  It builds and builds with amazing quality, the playback is fantastic!  I will grade as Mint- even if 99.9% plays perfectly!

The intro on 'Be All Right' has no background and the opening vocal is flawless.  Once again every section plays with impeccable quality and Mint is deserved.  Great power and depth here.

The gentler 'Chance Of A Lifetime' plays with exceptional clarity and warmth from start to finish with no sign of any interference.  Not one dust tick even, it just could not play any better.  A number of quiet sections of course.  Mint

The gentle intro on 'L'Auberge Du Sanglier' plays beautifully and 'as new' is a correct description.  The powerful 'A Hunting We Shall Go' then plays with incredible power and definition and zero distortion.  It could not play with any greater precision.  The delicate 'Pengola' has only a couple of barely audible dust ticks on the intro and plays with sublime clarity throughout.  'Backwards' has only a couple of mega quiet ticks near the start but as my regulars know I mention any background however minor and believe me this is minor!  The reprise of 'A Hunting We Shall Go' concludes this superb instrumental without any background and the 'separate' tracks here are Mint apart from 'Backwards' which I will grade as Mint-

In summary this first pressing plays with stunning quality with essentially no interference.  The clarity and warmth of the audio is so impressive and the depth and resonance is on another level entirely!  A beautifully preserved vinyl for sure and that is reflected in the sonic quality on offer here.  A FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing in every way.

The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve

The laminated cover is in excellent condition with only minimal shelf wear.  The edges are unmarked and the wide spine is 100% legible with only minor wear on the bottom corner.  Slightly compressed also but only very slightly!  The other corners are very clean with barely any wear and the opening edges have no obvious handling wear either.  The front cover is pristine although it does have a couple of waves in it - this is the obvious wear really.  Not caused by damp more to do with how it was 'fixed' to the back.  No such issue with the back cover which is near perfect apart from one small rub next to the left edge.  The inside of the gatefold is extremely clean apart from one small 'nick' near the top left corner.  A fine example overall.

The original poly-lined inner sleeve is in excellent order with only light creasing and a couple of very small tears on the central aperture.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
