Description

This is a RARE record. "The Chirping Crickets".  It's a sample copy that was given to ABC-Television by Brunswick's promotion manager: Bud Hellawell.  These yellow label copies changed Rock & Roll.

This record was played - by an ABC-DJ  very carefully.

The cardboard album cover is in VG+ to Excellent condition. There is the beginning of a corner split (see photo), otherwise, straight edges. The front cover is the highly desireable textured cover; no tears or lifting. The back cover has rub wear in a number of spots. The front and back have rubber stamp impressions from ABC, and  Bud Hellawell.

The record itself is in Excellent condition (Goldmine grading). It is the thick shellac type, inflexible record. There are some very fine scuffs on this record. Scuffs NOT scratches.  Most of them are on the lead-in grooves. The record is in it's original "D" type plastic sleeve. There are no spindle marks on Side 1, and a barely detectible one on Side 2. This yellow SAMPLE COPY label has ABC's stamp on both sides.  You may love the stamp issue, or hate it, but - this very record was broadcast out to millions of people: changing music and the world, forever.

I just played it with a new Shure White Label needle.  Intro noise on both outside band lead-ins, very quiet surface noise throughout; which is typical of these hard records - no skips or pops.

Trail off stamp on Side 1  -  MG 6036T1, Side 2  -  MG 6037T2.

I'm excited to offer this landmark album for auction.  Will have more Buddy Holly Lps going up on eBay next week.
