Overall Sleeve Condition : EXCELLENT (NEAR MINT).

Outer gatefold cover: Beautiful condition with mock leather texture.

Inner gatefold cover: Perfect condition, textured.

Edges: No scuffs, no seam splits.  Very light rubbing in a few places.

Corners: Light rubs. The only thing preventing me garding this cover as mint.

Opening Slit: No scuffs, no rubs, no tears.

Plays superbly. Well preserved and cared for, virtualy no decrease from the original sound quality. Kept in stunning condition by the previous owner. No skips, no jumps, no static crackle, no sign of any play, no wear. A few tiny crackles in very isolated places. Considering the acoustic, sensitive nature of this album, the quality of playback and clarity is quite superb.

An understated gem. Originally released on the Dandelion label in 1971 this is gentle pastoral folk of the first order. Bridget's first album "Ask Me No Questions" largely consisted of voice and guitar only and , whilst good, did seem a trifle samey throughout. However, for this recording producer Ron Geesin very sparingly augments Bridget's voice and guitar with strings, woodwind, brass and other guitars which does allow for more variation. The songs themselves are stronger and more melodic on this album. Songs are largely written by St John although there are versions of John Martyn's "Back To Stay" and Donovan's "The Pebble And The Man". St John's voice is similiar to Nico's but is more versatile, and anyway this album is probably closer in spirit to Nick Drakes "Bryter Later" Most of the time the album gently rolls along at a slow pace although there a few uptempo bits scattered about. At the moment my favourite song is "Making Losing Better" but the album is very consistent throughout. This is a good buy for fans of more introspective folky artists such as Vashti Bunyan and the aforementioned Nick Drake.

On her second album, Bridget Saint John expanded her arrangements from the acoustic guitar of her previous effort considerably, with the aid of producer Ron Geesin. While these took the risks of sometimes bathing the songs in too much fruitiness, in general the added cellos, flutes, bassoons, violins, horns, and backup voices did much to add welcome spice to a sound that had gotten a little numbingly similar over the course of her debut. The songs, too, were a little more playful and melodically interesting, though they retained the reserved, even-tempered pastoralism of her prior work. She still sounds like a challenge to raise either a smile or a frown out of most of the time, like a hermit determined to stay out of the city at all costs...She never sounded more like Nico than she did on the too-short 42-second closer, "It Seems Very Strange," with its doom-struck harmonium.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in the sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (US version of this term: Near Mint): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in the sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (US version of this term: VG++): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover, or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
