Description

An original 2nd Press of SABBATH DEBUT on the UK Vertigo label. Matrix 1/2. The label exhibits the small vertigo logo and Vertigo above the spindle hole. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. Also included is the original spiral inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) Truly stunning condition and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks - nothing troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. These Vertigo copies are the defacto route for best audio - absolutely superb! Interference is minimal. All we detected was a touch of light static in a couple of isolated moments..i.e. practically nothing. Crank it! This is one supremely well preserved copy.
Cover (Ex+) The cover design for Sabbath's debut is iconic! Mapledurham Mill never quite looked so Transylvanian than in this shot. The problem with the debut, often, is that the cover is beaten-up. Or it looks good from the pics, but there are a few issues hidden amongst that complex image. NOT here! This is the best preserved sleeve I've ever seen. Firstly, it is perfectly flat - there's no curling or bends. The surfaces are nice and clean - there are no hidden nicks or scratches. Edge wear is unusually light - just a very light touch on the opening edge. The interior often looks a bit faded or marked, again, this copy is practically pristine. As handling wear is light even the spine is totally intact along with the text. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity - almost certainly the best I've ever held.
Inner (Ex-) No splits but with a bit of ageing.
