Debut album, self titled release.

 

Very scarce first UK press of this magnificent Sabbath album .

 

Extremely difficult to locate nowadays and highly sought after. Reported to be only a handful of these first UK pressings with the ultra rare Philips text on lower rim  of side B label !

Complete with black and white, flip back , swirl inner sleeve, polylined. Some discoloration around edges . NO seam splits , minor nick around the central edge ,hardly noticeable. One minor stain on reverse face. Ex-  condition .

 

AUDIO

At least a very good aural delivery and considerably better in some parts . Absolutely wonderful tones! Vertigo channels are renowned for their much wider grooves to accommodate the pounding percussion beats and the roar of the electric guitars. These very first pressings are highly sought after as their extra loud cut engineering transmits the most effective aural deliveries. Not many about at all as only a very limited number were produced. This vinyl surprises and though there is some light static/distant surface during the quieter parts, one or two extremely faint ticks, and the occasional pop , does little to affect the music presentation. Pretty sensational and will not disappoint. Pulsating tones vibrate with deep resonance to convey an awesome hard rock delivery.

 

Vinyl

Thick, heavy weight vertigo pressing . Several surface marks/hairlines, light scuffs visible . Not heavily played. Super sheen to the vinyl . Gives a buzz when held .

 

Sleeve

Genuine FIRST issue sleeve with the stereo recording credits, which was printed in error and later changed to read vertigo recording credits . Inverted silver crucifix, with black inner faces, displaying slight fading toward lower edges . Unlaminated , extremely fragile gatefold ,with some lower edge wear. Spine excellent with hardly any wear visible .Misspelling of Osbourne’s name .Corner scuffs. Sticker damage on reverse face, top right. See pics for clarification .First and earliest issue sleeve in very good condition . Designed and photographed by Keef . Solid feel and a decent example of this very rare first issue gatefold, normally found heavily soiled ,with massive wear and tear. Has a super solid feel. Coloration remains vivid and strong on outer faces.

 

Labels

Black and white swirl in excellent condition with that mesmeric , psychedelic effect. Not much discoloration at all and a pleasure to view. Spider lines visible . NO rips nor tears, no graffiti, no mottling nor peeling. Mega rare Phillips Record credits confirming the very first vintage press of this astronomical release . Later labels do not bear this text, please note. Excellent example of one of the most difficult to locate labels.

 

A very scarce exhibit indeed and one of the most collectable and highly desirable hard rock psyches . Cautiously graded! Not to be missed! The winning bidder will be absolutely delighted …..
