My listening equipment is a highly revealing Yamaha PF-800 turntable (top quality suspended sub-chassis deck), pre/power amps and B&W Matrix Reference speakers. Before listing I always clean LPs on a vacuum record cleaning machine and I always determine audio quality by playing the LP not just by visual inspection. For this LP I have used an Ortofon MC10 Super MC cartridge.
Played on my system, this LP grades VG-. Vinyl still has a good sheen, but there are marks to it, however no deep, feelable scratches. Side 1 has some minor background noise to intro and between tracks, but is not intrusive. Track three is a quiet track and this is where you can hear some soft ticks to the intro and then a passage of soft to medium clicks to the left channel midway through the track. Side two has some minor background noise to the run-in groove and quiet intro which is not intrusive. Track one has some medium clicks right at the very end and these continue into the beginning of track two and background noise is also audible during some quiet parts of this track. I found it easy to ignore, but I am probably making allowances for the age of the LP and the otherwise very high audio quality of the rest of the music so bear this in mind if you are sensitive to these things. I subjectively grade this LP VG-.
The matt gatefold cover is in VG condition. There is wear to the spine and edges. A few marks here and there (see close-up photos) plus some creases to the back (see close-up photo) but still pretty reasonable for a 50+ year old. The very first pressing of this LP had credits mentioning ''Management / Jim Simpson, Big Bear, Birmingham'' on the text on the inside of the gatefold – this is the first pressing WITHOUT those credits (see close-up photo) – so, essentially, the first repress.
Will be well packaged for safe transit.
