The Velvet Underground and Nico, Banana Cover (peeled) & Torso sticker on reverse
This auction is for a very-hard-to-find copy of the Velvet Underground's classic banana record with the Keith Emerson torso back cover censored with the Verve sticker.
The record itself looks pretty clean, but plays quite noisily with pops and clicks throughout. It also has some side 1 label damage from a sticker and past partial removal.
The cover is in reasonably nice shape (see my photos and be sure to click to see the high-resolution versions if you care--note that you may have to click the photos in your browser again after opening to expand them beyond your browser window!) The banana is clearly peeled, but the surface is only moderately worn. There is a bit of wear to the upper edge on the right side. The back portion of the gatefold has a top split of about 6" from the opening and wear/scratching upper left on the back cover. The torso-covering sticker is also in reasonable condition. The lower left corner may have been lifted at one time (see photo to inspect yourself), but maybe not; it's certainly very flat and adhered.
The spine and the interior of the cover are nice, and the inner sleeve is the Verve original.
