Metal’s Magnum Opus
Which band created music that not only defined a genre, but also influenced legions of followers and spellbound millions of fans—and still does all these things 40+ years later? The correct answer is Black Sabbath, the ur-heavy metal band.On their masterpiece Master of Reality, Black Sabbath take metal into unchartered territory and invent subgenres while they’re at it (sludge metal, stoner metal, doom metal). For the Sabbath fan, it all adds up to depressed euphoria.
After the massive success of Paranoid, Black Sabbath delivered the goods again with an album more focused and cohesive. At just under 35 minutes, Master of Reality offers diverse songs that alternate between controversial (“After Forever”), thought-provoking (“Children of the Grave”), poignant (“Solitude”), and haunting (“Into the Void”). And it starts off with a
sludgy love note to marijuana (“Sweet Leaf”).
CONDITION
DISC: This UK 1st pressing is visually in EXCELLENT condition. Both sides show full gloss, with only some very light sleeve removal marks and signs of play. Both Vertigo labels show no spindle trails.

COVER: The Howards Printers deluxe box cover is in EXCELLENT condition. The box is undamaged and still rigid. The laminate has become unstuck in various places, as is inevitable with this cover. Still, this cover displays nicely and overall is in quite good condition.

POSTER: The six-panel poster on thick paper is in EXCELLENT condition. The poster has no tears and shows only mild signs of handling.

INNER SLEEVE: The polythene-lined die-cut Vertigo swirl sleeve dated "0671" is in EXCELLENT- condition. The sleeve shows normal signs of age but has no seam splits.
