Super rare variant of this album, on the very first Yellow Parlophone label, not just omitting the 'Recording first published 1963' text but also displaying the small 33 1/3rd, in error
Shortly after the release of Please Please Me, EMI introduced it's new look Parlophone label, which was to include two significant changes to the old style 'gold' issues. The tiny text running speed information was to be replaced by much larger figures and the year of release included on the labels
It has been known, for some time, that initial copies exist without any publishing date but this even rarer variant has only recently been discovered, displaying both the new and old 33 1/3rd together

Superb audio quality from this disc, with very mild surface noise to the run ins, which disappears through the tracks
This disc displays a few marks and lines but still retains a lovely lustre, with no groove whitening and both sides playing through with no skips or stalls, just a few very mild pops. This mono mix powers from the speakers. A great copy

The labels have no damage or writing and all text is vibrant, with just the usual collection of spindle trails and some spotting

Being the earliest possible issue of the yellow parlophone label, this disc is housed in an original 'Gold' E J Day cover, with the Angus McBean photo credit to the extreme bottom right of the front panel. Made from thick card stock, this example, although intact, is only in fair condition ( please see the photos above ) having sellotape along the bottom seam, with yellowing of the glue underneath it. However, as a genuine first issue, it is still a relatively rare collectors item

The original, 'patents applied for', polythene lined inner sleeve is in excellent condition, fully intact, with just mild age toning

All in all, an outstanding example of this great album, possibly rarer than the original 1st 'Gold' label copies
