 This is the 1986 reissue by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs of the Dec 1964 landmark folk-rock lp BEATLES FOR  SALE.
The record was recut from the original master tapes in Chatsworth, CA and the record pressed by JVC in Japan, using their Supervinyl formula.

You will not find a more dynamic sounding copy of this record, nor one with quieter surfaces. This release is the REAL DEAL.
Either of the 2 cd releases to date sound sick by comparison.

This album has one of the first known appearances of 'gatefold' sleeve record packaging.

Mobile Fidelity, based in Chatsworth CA is a reissue label specializing in high quality limited edition re pressings of notable or successful pop and jazz titles.
Their plan was this: use only the master tapes, cut a new higher quality lacquer using their uniquely state of the art signal chain. Plate the lacquers immediately before they softened up and send these stampers to JVC in Japan to have them pressed on Supervinyl, (the best, quietest and sturdiest vinyl formulation ever made).
Each title is pressed in a quantity of 10,000 or less. They have a high resale value on the collector's market in general and nearly always surpass the quality of the original pressing
(this of course is subjective as the original cutting and the MFSL cutting rarely use the same equalization or filtering, the latter of which MFSL eschews).
The lacquers are cut with both the lathe and tape machine running at half speed which results in 4x amplifier headroom and an immaculately cut groove with will test the limits of your stereo's playback capabilities.

Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs still exists today, they press gold plated cds and Super Audio cds. They also press half-speed mastered records but no longer use JVC Supervinyl as it is no longer manufactured.
