Description
Beatles Yellow Submarine PMC 7070 UK MONO LP w/rare MONO STICKERED Jacket
Beatles "Yellow Submarine" UK Apple LP mono pressing with highly unusual MONO stickered flipback jacket AND die-cut black sleeve. A "MONO" sticker is pasted over the stereo catalog number on the rear of the sleeve. The Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve (with patent number) has the two red lines as do all late 60's pressings of this jacket and has the die-cut inner sleeve but the LP has later labels (without the "Sold In U.K. ..." text) but DOES HAVE the -1/-1 matrix endings in the dead wax.Mono British pressings of the Yellow Submarine soundtrack LP are quite hard-to-find and this one seems to be quite unusual as it appears that it was from the 1970's and special ordered to fill someone's specific mono special order (long after stereo became the primary audio medium). It must be noted that Apple/EMI in England reissued the Yellow Submarine LP in 1982 for sale within their special Beatles mono LP box sets, except that the Yellow Submarine LP's included in those boxes seemed to mostly have -1/-2 matrix endings as opposed to this one with the -1/-1 configuration. And those later pressings were issued with non flipback jackets (without the two red lines on the back) and NO die-cut black inner sleeve. Nor did they have jackets with mono stickers. This jacket seems to have been a surplus stereo flipback cover that upon a special order was shipped with a rare 70's mono pressing LP and a special sticker on the back to specially designate the jacket for a MONO LP.
This is quite an unusual item!

Grading:
Labels:
(NM-/NM-): Both labels are clean with a number of barely visible spindle use lines on the side 2 label.. There is a barely visible very light trace of a removed sticker on the side 1 label. NO writing and NO pen marks.
Disc :
(EX++/EX++): Disc is clean and glossy with hardly any visible signs of use. NO scratches and NO scuffs. The audio is very clean on both sides. It plays superb with only very light crackle and a few very light pops. There are NO skips, NO jumps, NO distortion, NO loud pops and NO groove wear.
Sleeve:
(VG+): The Garrod & Lofthouse patented flipback sleeve is very nice looking and shows moderate signs of wear. The front and back of the sleeve look quite nice but under good light, one can see that someone used the front cover as a backing for writing on something else (such as a sheet of paper layed on top of the jacket). There are NO ink marks or stains anywhere on the sleeve. There are NO seam splits. The spine is nice with some rubbing wear at the bottom edge. The rear flipbacks are all clean and look excellent.
Inner sleeve:
(Good): The black inner sleeve is in good condition but does show use and storage wear and has one split seam along the edge.
