The Beatles "White Album" - rare original UK MONO LP! Low number first pressing, No.68381, in EXCELLENT condition!

• This is an excellent copy of a first issue Apple PMC 7067/8, with Garrod & Lofthouse top-opening gatefold sleeve, black die-cut inners, poster & four colour prints (plus Tissue Spacer), and dark green labels with "Sold in UK..." text
• Matrix numbers on the four individual sides are XEX 709-1, XEX 710-1, XEX 711-1, and XEX 712-1
• Stamper numbers on side one inner run-off are "3" at the left/9 o'clock position and "LP" at the right/3 o'clock position
• Stamper numbers on side two are "7" at left, and "GDR" at right
• Stamper numbers on side three are "2" at left, and "RL" at right
• Stamper numbers on side four are "1" at left, and "GGD" at right
• I use the 'Record Collector' grading system when listing vinyl, and adhere strictly to this criteria. This album falls within the accepted description of an Excellent item. ["The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear or creasing"]
• Visually all four sides are very clean. The vinyl has retained a bright black glossy appearance, and the labels are also in excellent condition. The labels contain the "Sold in UK..." text but do not include the "An EMI Recording" text that appears on later issues (see pix)
• Both sides of disc one show two or three very light stylus/inner bag scuff marks that do not affect playback
• Side one of disc two is exceptionally clean, with no visible marks. Side two of disc two has one small 3mm stylus scuff over the opening grooves causing slight intermittent clicks on the opening verse of "Revolution", but is otherwise very clean
• Both discs lie flat and unwarped on the turntable
• The audio playback of the four sides is generally excellent. The run-in grooves, which normally provide some evidence of the extent of surface noise present on the album, are very quiet. The sound quality is clean, showing no distortion and full frequency response; trebles are bright and bass is pronounced, evidenced straight off by the lovely bass drum kicks and great cutting guitar tones on the intro to "Back In The USSR". This track segues very quietly into the gentler "Dear Prudence". On side two the brass sounds on "Martha My Dear" are bright with great presence, and again the segue into the following quiet guitar intro to "I'm So Tired" shows how little 'unwanted' noise there is on this copy of the album. Side three is equally good. The only audible surface noise defects that my audio checks revealed on this item occur during the first verse of the opening track on side four, caused by the small stylus scratch mentioned earlier
• The laminated gatefold sleeve is the original 'cream' colour (it was never really 'white' until the reissues), and does show some useage and aging marks. The outer sleeve evidences age yellowing around the top opening edges, and some small "liver spots". A brown age line is also evident on the front left of the cover, parallel to the spine, and beside this is a broken dark line which is probably wear from vertical storage; there are similar small lines parallel to the top and bottom edges. The embossed "The BEATLES" logo still stands proud of the surface, with the normal laminate 'bubbling' around the letters. The issue number (0068381) is still clear in the original grey print ink under the laminate. The inside of the gatefold is clean, with a few 'liver spots' and yellowing of aging evident on the flip back seams and along the top opening edges. The seams are intact, and the top-openings themselves are sharp and unfeathered. The outer spine is unbroken and still clearly displays the album title
• Both black Apple die-cut inner sleeves are in excellent condition, with fully intact seams and no tears around the die-cut or edges
• The inner lyric sheet/poster is in Mint- condition with no marks, staining or tears; see pix for an indication of the sharpness of the fold lines
• The four glossy photos are also in Mint- condition on the original thicker card with deep bright colours, and the item also contains a Tissue Spacer



• The attached post and packaging notes are my 'standard draft' guidance for buyers. Due to the rarity and value of this album I strongly recommend that the winning bidder opts for the Insured postal rates. (In the UK this would be £6 for Special Delivery; a successful overseas bidder will need to check mailing rates with me at the conclusion of the auction before making payment). I ensure that albums are securely packaged in quality mailers and customer feedback to date assures me of the success of this policy. Please note that should a buyer decide to opt for standard mailing rates the Post Office will not provide compensation in the event of problems arising out of mail handling and I can accept no further liabilty for loss or damage after mailing

• Buyer pays for all postage & packaging costs, any insurance costs above standard rates, and any subsequent custom costs

• Double LP's (or two single LP's in the same mailer) for UK delivery by First Class Recorded Delivery will cost a total of £3-50


• UK first class mail carries the standard Royal Mail compensation of up to £30; if the buyer requires a higher level of insurance this will need to be notified to me at the conclusion of the auction, and the buyer will be responsible for the additional cost. UK Special Delivery with enhanced compensation will cost a total of £5-00 for a single album, and £6-00 for a double album. (In the absence of any buyer notification I will assume standard mailing rates are agreed and I will accept no further liability for loss or damage after mailing)


• Shipping overseas is normally by Royal Mail Airmail Small Packets, with standard compensation (up to £30 value)


• Single 12" LP's p&p to Europe cost a total of £4-00


• Single 12" LP's p&p to the USA or Japan will cost a total of £6-00


• The postage & packing for individual items to other destinations will be costed for the buyers destination and advised by e-mail


• The buyer may wish to increase the compensation amount and this will need to be agreed before dispatch and cost paid by the buyer
